I thought i was nearly there but i must have gone wrong....i am left with ?LER for 18d and FARNS? for 28a with only G and I left over
Anyone know where i might have gone wrong?

"think" i'm sorted now ... although i may be back!

I have only started looking this today, and I think it may be far too difficult for me. But could someone explain what it means by "Cycled" for some clues ? At first look I thought it meant muddled up, but then "Jumbled" appeared for another column of clues.
I am sorry if I am being seriously thick, but I would be immensely grateful for any help!

cycled just means move the letters up a place (don't change the order)
e.g samovar when cycled could be movarsa or varsamo etc .....the order stays the same ...only the position changes

I've also got left with farnsi at 28ac but can't find this anywhere or see another way to place other letters - have I gone far wrong?

Yes with a couple of tweaks elsewhere that seems to work thanks. Quite impressive construction but a slog to unravel at the end
