Hi, Rusty!
Whew! What a hot day it turned out to be! 29C!
Yes, we had a lovely day out!
BB and I entertained ourselves by going to the Butterfly House - he didn't fancy the owls! - whilst his mum and Baby went to the Baby and Toddler Sensory class, held in the Sports Pavilion there.
The butterflies alight on any bit of you they fancy!
So you have to stand very still until they fly away again - otherwise they might damage their very fragile wings.
They were beautifully coloured - and much larger than I had imagined.
How was your lunch with Miss L-B? Did you digress from a bacon roll?
I have never been up in a helicopter - I should be terrified!
I hate heights!
I have refused constantly to accompany visitors up in the London Eye!
(though I am willing to wait patiently at the bottom!)

What a shame, elle, the Eye is fab-ul-ous.

Did you see any Blue Morphos? They are my favourite butterflies

Hello, Elle!
You had a grand outing, I see!
I had two granddaughters with me.
Had a bacon roll and a J2O.
And it was very nice!
The helicopter trip looks great.
They sent me photos.
Gran is coming to make the girls tea, tonight!

Hi, Rusty!
You obviously had a great time , too!
Did you go to the Pine Cone?
The girls are indeed being spoilt, having their Gran come to make their tea!
BB goes to school tomorrow - just for the afternoon - to meet his teacher and new classmates.
All proudly dressed up in the new uniform!
He won't start "officially" though until next Monday.
He should cope very well with the transition to primary school, I should think, as he has been going to nursery since about twelve months old.
He is used to "structure" in his day.
We were well impressed with the school when we went around it.
The headmaster is a good guy and has his finger well on the pulse of the school goings on.
My cousin's two grandkids are shortly ( next September) going to go to Secondary school.
More decisions to be made there!

Good morning, Elle!
Yes, they took me to Pine Cone.
Was fine there.
A big day for BB, today!
Hope it goes well.
I have recorded a TV programme that intrigues me.
It is called "Auction".
I think this sale took place a couple of years ago in Geneva, by Sothebys.
It is about the sale of a watch.
This is no ordinary watch.
it is the Henry Graves Supercomplication!
A hand made watch. crafted without the aid of computers in manufacture.
And, I have learned a new meaning of a word.
"Complication" is used in horological terms for an extra function on a watch. I never knew that!
This watch has 24 complications.
They are expecting the watch to fetch over £10 million!
So, I'll have a coffee and "watch" it!
PS. Andy got beaten in New York.

Good morning, Rusty!
We have yet another lovely day, although we are told it will definitely be cooler!
Only 21C maximum - comparatively chilly to yesterday!
I haven't been out with the dog yet this morning.
She is shortly heading for the Groomers for a bath and a trim!
We shall leave her there, and go back to collect her about 12.30 pm
Yes, I just read that Andy Murray's opponent was literally "saved by the bell"!
Seemingly, there was a loud "bong" belted out over the PA system when Nishikori was facing break point.
The point consequently had to be replayed.
Andy - dare I say in typical "Murray fashion" - was so frustrated by this that for the next half hour, he lost seven games in a row!
I can well imagine his facial expressions and body language!
(Remember "tolerated" but not "liked"!)
That is very interesting about the watch.
I have never heard of "complications" used in that respect!
If you are captivated by such functions, you would like The Royal Observatory at Greenwich - now a museum.
Enjoy the programme!
P.S What did the watch bring at auction?

Hello, Elle!
Very dreich here!
Tough for Andy but he has had a successful year.
I think del Potro is out, too.
I was rooting for him.
"Rooting"? Must find out about "rooting".
It was an interesting programme about the watch.
It took 7 years to make, by Patek Philippe of Geneva.
It had complications that I have not the foggiest about. "Sidereal seconds"?
And a celestial map of the stars above New York where Henry Graves lived.
I found it intriguing.
It was bought for, including auctioneer's fee, roughly fifteen million pounds. The auction was in Swiss francs.
And now you know what a "complication" is!
Next week, among other things, they are auctioning stuff from Lauren Bacall's estate, including a Henry Moore sculpture.
I shall have a wee nosey to see what is going on!

Sidearal means relating to stars or other heavenly bodies.
How on earth could all that get in a watch??

Hello, Rosalind!
It has sidereal minutes, too.
And Westminster chimes and many other things.
Google "Henry Graves Supercomplication".
Quite a lot of info out there.
It is a beautiful looking watch.
Very large though.
I'll stick to my humble Casio!
