Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that your finger is less sore after your lancing the whitlow - just be careful now that it doesn't get infected.
The situation with Froome puts me in mind of that of Zola Budd, going back to the 1984 Olympic games.
If I am remembering correctly, Zola Budd was South - African born, but applied for British citizenship - on the grounds that her grandfather was British - in order to get round the international sporting boycott of South Africa, so that she could compete in the 1984 Summer Olympics in L.A.
She did compete for GB - she was always running barefoot, if you recall? - but then in 1992, she was back competing again in the Olympics for South Africa.
I think she was a middle- and long- distance runner?
It isn't an exact parallel to Chris Fromme's case, but similar enough to warrant a mention.
As you said about Froome......Zola's was also a career move.
And taking note of which side of the bread was buttered!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Zola was similar.
I always felt a bit sorry for Zola.
I think others manipulated her.
She lives in America now and still runs.
And there were/are Kenyans running for other countries, too.
It goes on!
There was a Diamond League meeting scheduled for Monaco this evening. I do not know if it went ahead.
Nice is close to Monaco.

Hi Elle/Rusty

The Diamond League were given the green light to go ahead a while back - I hope it goes well and Its good in a way that life should go on.
They did cancel Marseilles' firework display planned for this week end though.

I remember Zola Bud - she was fast !

Hi, Rusty!
There is a Staffordshire Bull terrier comes to the park called "Zola"!
As far as I know, it was decided that the Diamond League meeting in Monaco was to go ahead, despite the atrocities in Nice, only thirteen miles away.
But the meeting would be kept strictly to the sporting events only, with no festivities, as a mark of respect.
These are the Athletics that I plan to watch tomorrow - but we shall only get the Highlights.
There is the Davis Cup tennis later, too , but I am not sure of the schedule as today's tennis was rained off.

Sorry to reiterate what you've said , Pigale!
I stopped typing in the middle to see to the dog as she was asking to go out into the garden.
I came back and carried on - and only saw after I'd posted that you had written similar in the interim!

Hello, Elle,
There was a Diamond League meeting on tonight on Eurosport.
I think it was live from Stockholm?
I spotted the girl there was been a lot of controversy about.
I cannot remember her name.
Something like Casper Setanta?
Wonder why there are few posts today?
