Rosalind and Elle, Thank you for our message of sympathy -
Just came back from market in town and stopped in my favourite cafe on the way back - yes, every one is devastated but even more angry and we all feel helpless against an enemy we cannot see in the flesh.

Impossible to take drastic actions such as expulsing the 3 odd millions muslim people living in France because luckily most are ordinary people, not criminal; such an action would not solve anything anyway because retaliations would come either through Belgique, or other border countries, or from anywhere for that matter.

The only thing the Police can do is carry on tracking the known gangs, but there are new ones all the time. There are thousands of indoctrinated fanatics. Hopeless situation.

What is rather odd is that the lorry driver was carrying his ID with him - that should make things easier for the police to trace anyone who had anything to do with him - I think they have already been to his (supposed) home.

On a more cheerful note, it is a rather nice day here and the market was very crowded with many holiday makers on top of our normal lot.

Rusty, I' have read that the Caravan on the Tour will drive in silence through the crowd, and a minute's silence will be observed this afternoon on the podium

Hello, Pigale!
Good for the Caravan!
It is very difficult for the authorities.
These attacks appear to be getting more frequent and no apparent solution in sight.

Hi, Rusty!
I do not think that here IS any way to stop these atrocities.
The sad thing is that the innocent become guilty by association..... I heard some nut on LBC on the radio this morning berating all the Muslims who live here peaceably in the UK and wanting to forcibly repatriate them all...... the radio host pointed out that just like the caller, most of them were probably born here! and wanted , just like the caller , to live in peace with their fellow men.
What a mess!
On a happier note...have you heard from Miss La Bamba? How is she enjoying her time in Greece? Whereabouts has she gone?
My daughter and family are having a great time on holiday ......today they have gone to Longleat Safari Park!
I think that is about fifty miles away from Poole?
She tells me that they have been advised to travel on the safari park bus rather than use their own car, as the monkeys are adept at removing bits and pieces from the cars.....!!!
Apparently their roof box would be a likely target!
I am now envisaging a group of monkeys scurrying away with said roof- box.....!
I am sure BB will have a lovely day!
How is the golf progressing?
And I hope the cycling goes safely today.
We are going over to see to the cat shortly........

Hi Rusty,

Just heard that Thibaut Pinot has abandoned the Tour - due to illness apparently. Shame !

Hello, Elle,
Well, speaking as an immigrant, I have found that the hard of thinking are usually the ones demanding deporting etc.
Best ignored.
No, I have no contact with La Bamba.
She is on a Greek island is what I know.
Her Dad keeps me up to date with her.
I have heard of Longleat and the monkeys!
Golf is fine, conditions are wet but the wind does not appear to be a problem.
Just saw one of the overhead cameras on a wire, in flames!
I have switched to le Tour. Seems quite a clunky course.
Waiting on Cancellara going.
He seems nice and relaxed.
Lovely day in France but the wind is blowing.
Only one bird in the nest today.
Think it is "wee brother "!

Hello, Pigale,
I did not know about Thibaud.
It is no great surprise when a rider is sick.
Different hotels each night, and kitchens.
Not hard to get a bug!

Rusty, I have a feeling that Pinot was suffering from some type of cold/bronchitis or some such - he is not keen on cold conditions (like cold wind for example )

Quite frankly it's a wonder that not more riders have not caught a chill on the Andorra Stage, going from nearly 40C down to a cool hail storm where they got soaked .

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, the extremes of weather won't help!
Poor Pinot, always next year.
Cancellara Tweeted a video clip last night of Quintana getting a tow up Ventoux yesterday from the Mavic motor bike.
He was blatantly hanging on to the back of the motor bike.
Have not heard of any penalty being awarded to him.
I hope he gets pummeled in the Alps!

Hello, Elle!
I think you, being an athletics fan, will appreciate this!
After yesterday's stage on Mont Ventoux, one of Chris Froome's team mates, Geraint Thomas, was being interviewed on television about the events on the mountain.
He was asked about Froome running up the mountain.
Geraint replied, "Of course he ran. He's a Kenyan, isn't he!"
I liked that!

Hi, Rusty!
We are home again, having fed and watered the cat, and remembered to feed the fish!
So far, the fish (not goldfish!) are still with us....my track record for looking after other people's goldfish is not good!
We stayed a couple of hours just to keep the cat company!
How is the cycling progressing?
I like the anecdote about Froome's running up the mountain...... because he is a Kenyan!
Excellent!
Speaking of Athletics........I have Highlights of the ninth Diamond League meeting on BBC tomorrow.
