Hello Doglet,

That's a kind idea about clothes - there are always some that we do not want anymore for whatever reason, but that have yet quite a decent life time in them.

Weather here has gone extremely sunny again, but as forecast with temps in the low 20s - Still, it is a very pleasant way to start September.

The kids went back to school this week - I bet there were a few tears among the younger ones - and perhaps among some mothers too ! It's always an expensive time of the year for parents - they receive an allocation from the State, luckily for those on a lowish income. Do you have this system in England?

Well, it took me all this time to find out what was happening to the poor man ! I eventually saw a headline dated two days ago, saying that Boeckman was to stay in induced coma for another seven days.

~Feel sorry for him, but also for his family !

Pigale, I'm sorry! I didn't mean for you to have to look it up! I could have done that myself - I only asked you because I assumed you would already know!
Anyway, thank you! The poor man - and, as you say, his family will be suffering too. Cycling seems to me to be very harsh and dangerous sport.

No Elle, I am glad you asked - for some reason, after the first couple of days I selfishly forgot all about him ! Seeing nothing in headlines did not help.

Although I agree any sport can prove dangerous, it sounds that the accident was through inattention from is part - he was having a drink as they do when cycling, did not see something (a little hole I think) on the road and subsequently fell very heavily.

Mind you it does not say much for the state of the
roads in Spain, but I suppose no country can be expected to re-tarmac all its roads just because there is a cycling race - it would cost millions.

I don't know what happened when Froome crashed yesterday at start of race.

Thanks for good wishes - yes, will be glad when tomorrow is over with!

Elle, I have just received a (very late in the day) delivery from Amazon - Becoming Jane.

Looking forward to watching it, perhaps tomorrow if I have finished the French DVD of a novel I am in the middle of watching - it deals, though the life of a rural family, with agricultural/social changes from late 19th century to post WW2 France)

I'll let you know how I get on with Jane !

BTW, I am rather disappointed because I wanted to order a DVD of R. Delderfield's Swann saga (you know, Give us this day, God was an Englishman etc) - well no luck - I am quite surprised that it has not been made into a ~DVD - I found it very interesting when I read it a number of years ago now. (Again it is to do with rural/social changes etc, which I love)

Anyone heard of a DVD /film version ?

I've read this, too, but cannot find a reference anywhere to a DVD.
Have you read Delderfield's "A Horseman Riding By"?
I much enjoyed this series of books - there is a DVD of this - it was a series on TV.
Have you read the books/ watched the TV series?
