hi elle
Norwich used to be lovely but they "modernised"it and it has lost a lot of its charm since we moved away.We had an hilarious event here,we had been to our local cash and carry a huge bundle of toilet rolls we left them in the hall whilst we had lunch but the dogs thought it would be a good game to rip the bags open and tear the rolls apart, the hallway looked like snow had fallen with the culprits sitting in the middle looking guilty,we spent some time clearing up and found 6 intact rolls!!!! I managed to do the xword this morning at an ungodly hour today as the rain was thrashing down and there was thunder too,

HI, Doglet!
We really should get around to seeing more of Norwich other than the shops (excellent!) and the market. The trouble is being limited by always having the dog with us! and we like to do things together rather than one of us remaining standing outside with said dog!
I was up at 6am and found it raining! I've done the Everyman this morning - seems to be getting easy again.... I liked having to struggle with it a bit! just one I cannot fully parse - thinking about that one!
Going out later when Daughter and family arrive - hope the rain will have ceased by then.

Good Morning everyone !

Hope all is OK -

Just thought I would make you jealous : today is like yesterday, a glorious day with temps reaching 34/36C - which is unusual for late August.

But do not worry, think we are due for small thunderstorms tomorrow and then weather remains sunny, albeit with temps in low 20s.

Cats are out in garden for first time - they escaped while I was opening the shutters to terrace; no big problem since they have got all their jabs now - but Mummy is not pleased, her smalls are not obeying her !

Morning, Pigale!
Well, the rain has stopped but that is about the only good thing I can say about our weather !
We are planning a walk later when the family arrive - we're expecting them midday.
So there is time to watch some of the Athletics first - last day today!
I shall miss my daily "dose" but It will be good in a away to have my life back!
Hope the kittens aren't venturing too far afield on their first time out?

Hello Elle,

Hope weather stays decent (at least no rain) for your walk with family. Do you intend to go for a long walk ?

After the Athletics, I believe you can watch a bit of La Vuelta (cycling in Spain) on Eurosport - I must admit that selfishly, I really only follow the Tour, although I keep an eye on other races GC.

The kittens have just returned, (well with a bit of help from mother and myself) but they had a good 90mns just running around the house, not venturing in real garden, and now is time for a zzzz ! Marvellous life!

Hi Doglet,

Sorry, I was not by the computer when you posted.

After googling for info, It looks like there was a big crash yesterday (and may be more than one crash) and three riders are now out of the Vuelta; One of them is seriously injured with facial and lung injuries and has been put into a medically-induced coma.

Another trauma yesterday was when yet another rider was knocked off his bike by a motorbike - his team are considering legal action.

I know that there are often crashes in cycling, but there seem to be a lot of them in this particular race.

Has your weather cleared ? Here, it's very very hot!

Hi Rusty,

If you are reading this, tell me what you make of La Vuelta and all these crashes . Poor Van Garderen has to retire again, (together with 2 other riders) - he already had to retire from Le Tour - it's not a good year for him.

And what about Peter Sagan ! I always thought these motor bikes were behaving dangerously towards the cyclists. Luckily he is not out of the race.
