Pigale - I think it's just an ordinary cryptic clue. The type/make of car will lead you to the cyclist. I'd never heard of him!

The first letter is M.

Yes, that was the answer - I thought it/he was known by all cycling fans. I quite liked the clue.

Ros, I've just checked out the make of our S & L.
See www.time4toys.com
I bought ours at a local garden centre, but I've checked and you can got it on Amazon.
The grandkids seem to like the board.
I've never been to Norwich Cathedral, although I've always intended to do so. Whenever we've been to Norwich (we stay on holiday in Lowestoft in Suffolk, so not too far away) we have always had the dog with us, so visiting the Cathedral and the Castle are not viable propositions.

Thanks. Actually I am planning now to make a bigger, better one with pictures that will appeal to him ! I like making things, just finished a farm rug- ploughed and green fields, yard, animals, tree etc.
You certainly couldn't go to the Arts Centre either, with a dog. There are some fabulous things there.

Indeed, he won the Tour de France several times and was a very pleasant guy as far as I remember -

Not sure about the parsing though - that's what threw me

Thanks malone - the "by =x" foiled me. Probably the greatest ever - won all three jerseys at the the TdF (more than once?)

I was going to respond to someone else's post too, but I can't remember what I wanted to say now - will have to wait three minutes, I suppose

Oh yes - I did my teaching practice in Norwich - probably my favourite city. The cathedral is well worth seeing.

Yes, so I believe , Chris. Next time we go, we shall have to take it turns to stay outside with the dog!

Chrise, the current font is an enormous copper bowl once used for making chocolate in Norwich! The water inside had a very dusty surface. I prefer the font at Salisbury, quite magical.
Wonderful fan vaulting
