Morning, Rusty!
A miserable wet day here - very humid, though.
I hope it's better for you in Dundee?
I couldn't resist looking up 'kelpie' in my 'new' Brewers!
Yes, you are perfectly correct- kelpie is given as a spirit of the water in the form of a horse. It suggests that the word is related to Scottish Gaelic cailpeach, 'heifer'.
What a to-do with all the 100+ pages of spam on the forum! Ash certainly had his work cut out dealing with that lot.
You are going 'haddock hunting' this morning, aren't you?
Anything else planned?

Good morning all!
Fine day North of the Border!

Elle, your friend Lin, if she is a crossword fan, may be interested in seeing the statue to William Chambers, of Dictionary fame, in Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
There is also a window in his honour in St Giles Cathedral.
William, and possibly his brother, paid for the renovation of St Giles Cathedral.
Now, I do not know if this is true or not, and I don't have time to find out, as I have a fine haddock to find, but it has been said that the first funeral to take place in St Giles after renovation, was William Chambers own.

Hello, Doglet!
One of our neighbours has a pond in his back garden and one of our cats regularly brought us gifts of frogs. He would hold the frog delicately by one leg( quiet unharmed) and proudly present it to us. I would then have to return it back to the neighbour and the pond!

Good Morning everyone,

Slightly overcast here, but quite bright nonetheless, and not cold.

Rusty, how come getting a Haddock is such an affair ! :)

Our cats bring in undamaged frogs as well. The frogs make a strange whistling noise when distressed.

P.S. more of a post to see if I've been affected by the anti-spam campaign than one to inform - sorry!

Hello, Elle,
Yes, a fine haddock is top priority today.
There is a good fish shop not too far off.
Fresh fish straight from the boats at Arbroath!
I hope to find a battery for my car remote doofer, too.
Yes, a lot of annoying spam. Why is it called spam?
I may have a browse in Curry's too.
Curry's is an electrical appliance retailer.
Offski now. Enjoy your "lunch"!

I think it derives from the Monty Python sketch of a cafe where span was served with everything. I think Vikings were involved!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I wondered if our first posts had "crossed"!
Hope you are still there to read this?
Thank you for the extra info for Lin - actually, that is just the sort of thing that I think would appeal to her, so I've quickly sent it on to her. She leaves for Edinburgh tomorrow.
Good luck with the haddock- will it be smoked?
What are you looking for in Currys?
Thank you - I will endeavour to enjoy my "lunch"!
