Good morning !

Where is everyone this morning ? Having a lie in ?

I have just received the two books I had ordered a while back - they were out of stock temporarily, hence the delay.

Spilling the Beans and the Cat's Pyjamas
Dictionary of idioms and their origins.

I thought I had ordered second hand copies (that is the price I paid anyhow), but in fact the two items look brand new!

I shall enjoy browsing through them. BTW I am now very grateful for my Bradford's, it is proving very useful!

Good morning, Rusty!
Maybe we in the South are more 'nesh ' than you hardy Northerners!
But certainly in the dog walkers' world it has become a tad chilly before 8 o'clock in the mornings! and also I am finding a decided nip in the air when out in the garden late at night, playing ball with the dog before bed!
But a lovely day today irrespective of temperature!
What is it like in your neck of the woods?
No door bell on your new door? or are you having a brass doorknocker?
Just finished the Times QC and the Times 2 - don't have the 15x15 as I haven't got the paper.
Puzzled by the parsing of one.....shall put it up on the forum, and maybe someone can set me right!

Hi, Malone!
Unfortunately, we don't seem to have either of those shops in our area . It's a pity as they sound worth a visit (especially regarding light bulbs!)

Hi, Pigale!
How are you?
Yes, it is quiet on here this morning. Er....what's a' lie-in'??? I've been up since 6 am and out since 7.45!
Lovely day here!
I've had the same experience with most of the "used" books that I've bought from Amazon - especially those in the 'text book' category - some look as though they have hardly been opened! Very good for 1p plus £2-80 postage! which is what I've mostly paid for them.

Morning Elle,

Yes, this is more or less what I paid for them, except that the postage is a little more than for the UK.

I have somewhere a copy of a book that was published some 10 or 12 years ago, with the title ; ' Eats, shoots and leaves' - the zero punctuation tolerance book.

I must dig it out of bookshelves. Have you heard of it?

Weather brilliant here, slowly but surely getting back to hot temperatures with 30C expected tomorrow. As you say, the temps early morning recently have been somewhat less warm than we'd got used to !

Hi, Pigale!
Yes, I have heard of the book- I always meant to get hold of a copy and read it, but somehow never did.
It sounds as though it would be amusing?
I came across the story/ joke about the panda - re the title - is that in the book?

Yes Elle, to be read either

'eats, shoots and leaves'

or 'eats shoots and leaves' - panda's diet.

Amusing book but also of interest re the necessity of punctuation.

I is on Amazon, but don't know what price offer. Worth getting a copy.

Elle, I've just checked - there are copies from just over
5 euros - something in the regions of 3,50 pounds I think.
You may find better offers.

For elle and pigale... and anyone else.

Punctuate this sentence to alter the meaning...

A woman without her man is nothing.

(Yes, I know it's an old one, but maybe not for everyone.)

Hi, Malone!
I actually put that up on Celadon's "Poser of the Day" a while back! So I will sit this one out......

but how about these two - can you punctuate these?

Please miss my mother miss told me miss to tell you miss that I miss must miss miss school tomorrow miss

-============================

That that is is that that is not is not is not that so that is

A clue.....the second one requires alteration of lower case .........
