Hello, Elle!
Rain is not so heavy now.
It seems very late for chicks to be hatching, yes.
I do not know anything about Egyptian geese, though.
I did not realise Kat was 6ft!
Yes, I got insulating tape in ASDA and have completed the makeshift repair.
Seems fine just now, no sparking anyway, and it's charging.
I watched Bill Bryson on BBC Breakfast earlier.
He has a new book out.
"The Body".
He comes across as a nice lad.
I did not know he was a grandfather.
I think he said he has ten grandchildren!

The Guardian has published a correction today:
"We were wrong to say that Nike's headquarters are in Eugene, Oregon. The company's origins can be traced to Eugene but its global headquarters are in Beaverton, more than 100 miles to the north."

Hi, Rusty!
I have some way to go before I catch up with Bill Bryson!
We have six grandchildren so far......
We have two apparent pairs of Egyptian Geese in the park.....they were first seen last year.
They are so named, I believe, because they come from the Nile valley in Africa
https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/egyptian-goose/
They are very outnumbered by the Canada geese, who have inhabited our park for a long time.
The ever-hovering heron is a threat , though, to the goslings.
The cat has "packed " himself several times!
Yet when we want to put him in his travelling basket, tomorrow morning, we won't see him for dust!
That's an odd expression...I wonder where it came from?

Hello, Elle!
Bill is well off for young ones!
Your heron will be paying attention to the little birds, I think.
I don't know where your "dust" saying comes from.
One that crossed my mind during the week was,
'Pay someone a visit'. Why 'pay'?
Mind you I have not checked the dictionaries to see what they say!
You will be getting packed for your trip now?
How is your daughter and family getting on in Waterford?
Any "weather"?

I think the full expression is "won't see him for dust and small pebbles", referring to the detritus kicked up by someone beating a hasty retreat!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Very wet here now.....
And rain wasn't even forecast for today!
I haven't heard from my daughter today, Rusty.
The wedding is at some point today......I cannot remember the timing...... so I expect they are busy!
Once they reached their hotel yesterday, I don't think they had far to travel today to the wedding venue.
I trust that it will be dry, though, for the bride's sake!
I think it is quite a posh "do".
BB said that he and his brother had to wear suits!
I must away now and deliver my fish to my friend and neighbour.......
She is very kindly looking after him whilst we are away.
( I hope he behaves himself!)

Hello, Chris!
Well, that is a new variant of the saying, to me!
I have never come across that before.

Hello, Elle!
Rain here has stopped an hour or so, ago.
Meant to be heavy on Sunday, though.
I am sure your daughter will be in touch when she has a few moments to herself.
The athletics start later today.
Eliud Kipchoge will have 41 pacemakers for the sub two hour marathon attempt, next week.

Hi, Rusty!
I delivered the fish to his holiday quarters, and stayed for a chat with my friend.
I have now (almost) finished the packing......then all that remains is to load the car tomorrow!
Now , Eliud Kipchoge's sub two hour marathon attempt.....
I can understand the need for pacemakers when trying to set a record....but 41 sounds a tad excessive?
Are there no ground rules?
Presumably the pacemakers work consecutively?
By taking over from each other at set points en route?
Is that how it will work?
(I may of course have this all wrong)
Yes, a late start to the Athletics this evening....
I am going to organise dinner first before I start watching.

Hello, Elle!
Good progress on the packing!
Now, the Kipchoge attempt!
This is not an attempt on the world record.
Nothing to do with the IAAF.
It is a challenge to find out if a human can break the two hour barrier.
I think there is an electric pace car involved with laser technology to indicate the best position on the road to run, etc.
They have been planning this for a long time and there will be enormous attention to detail.
There will be a good deal of info on this site.
Much better than I can explain, as I am just learning about it, too.
