Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we were very fortunate...the Lakes were only about 60 odd miles from Bolton.
Nowadays, we tend to walk in the countryside in Kent.....or along the beaches, when in Suffolk!
Although regrettably, we haven't done this last for some time now.
I agree with you about walking beside water....be it river, lake or sea.
There is something calming and peaceful about it.
And flat!

Hello, Chris!
I never had a problem going "up" .......provided I didn't turn around and look down!
But I couldn't cope with seeing where I was going, when I had to come "down" again!

Hi elle
I once went down in a ski-lift - terrifying. If you are going up, the ground is a few tens of feet in front of you. However going down, it looked several thousand feet below!

I've never been skiing as I prefer not to break bones. The Swiss are the best bone-setters in the world! I've been on ski lifts to see the views, though.

However, I have jumped out of an aeroplane (which I paid for, not expecting others to do so in the name of a charity!) and also done some scary whitewater rafting in NZ and Costa Rica.By scary I mean that in NZ the raft in front capsized and all the people were thrown out who then got a bit stuck in a whirlpool. I wouldn't do it now, though I'd love to - I could hardly get into the wet suit last time!

Hello, Chris!
I remember going in a chairlift to see the coloured sands at Alum Bay.
We had to leap into this as it passed......it didn't even stop!
Terrifying!

Lordy, Ros, I can barely sit IN an aeroplane......let alone jump OUT of one!

It was a little scary, elle, but so peaceful floating down with fantastic views (this was NZ too). I was strapped to a very hunky young man! They do tell you there's no chickening out- if you decide once the plane has taken off you don't want to jump, they will push you! This is because you have to sit on the floor already strapped to your partner (rather uncomfortable) and there is only one exit hatch, so if you won't go no-one else (except the last one, presumably) can.
I have photos taken mid air to prove I did it!

Good morning, Elle!
A wet start to the day here, as forecast!
Needed my kagoul(choose your own spelling!) on my trek to ASDA earlier.
Still, the weather has been great up until now.
I did not realise Bolton was so close to the Lakes.
I like the river walks, but not easy to get a flat walk here.
This town's built on a volcano!

Good morning, Rusty!
We have the opposite to you today.......it is sunny here!
And a tad warmer than yesterday, although a far cry from the previous few days' heat.
Well, I guess that walking up and down a volcano will keep you fit...if it doesn't wear you out first!
We are kind of halfway up a hill, but on a sort of plateau.
So we need to walk uphill to one park.....but can walk on the level around where we live....and downhill to the other nearby park.
If you can follow that somewhat convoluted explanation?
We live in a residential area, though, not countryside.
We need to drive out further into Kent for the "country", although we have plenty of parks around us.
No special plans for today......
How about you?

Hello, Elle!
Still a bit rainy here.
I have no plans today.
Just had to do a bit of shopping earlier.
My puzzle is finished, and I'll watch a bit of the Giro later, and perhaps the golf, later.
Just my normal Saturday.

Hi, Rusty!
I am doing my puzzle now....
I'm finding it a bit harder then the usual Saturday one?
I am getting answers, but in some instances just because the definitions and the crossing letters fit....
I cannot always parse them.
Maybe time to put it aside for a while.....
What time does your cycling viewing begin?

Hello, Elle!
The puzzle was not straightforward.
I share your thinking about the parsing.
I have mine parsed, but I had to try hard to see what the setter was up to, with certain clues.
No harm in that, though.
Cycling will be on any minute now.
