I think skills like Steve's and his sister's are only acquired with a lifetime of application (as well as the kit!) The woodworker is phenomenal and very young, though. They all have so much patience.

Rosalind, thank you !
I like your "pearls of wisdom" which occasionally appear on this thread. I watched episode 8 with tears in my eyes.

it sounds interesting, Ros, but unfortunately I am now recording "Eggheads" around then......since BBC 2 altered the programme timings!
But I'll bear it in mind, should the circumstances change!

Hi, Rusty!
How's the cycling going?
Are you having to juggle it with the golf?
It's often the case , isn't it?
All.....or nothing!
We all enjoyed our venture to the park...even the initially reluctant "walker" admitted that he had a good time!
We are having a roast dinner with all the trimmings.........
We have worked up quite a good appetite, with all our exertions......

Rosalind
I also had a great Aunt in Yorkshire, who was unaware (even at her own Golden Wedding celebration) that the lady she thought was her older sister( by 15 years) was in fact her own mother. I believe she died never knowing the truth.

cerasus- I have an instance in my own (extended) family, but I think the boy must have eventually known the truth. Children were routinely lied to then. My mother thought her father died two years before he actually did and never knew he was in prison for GBH, though he had, and died from, bipolar disorder.

Rosalind, how very sad .
So many secrets and lies come to light, eventually.
"Mrs Wilson" comes to mind.

Yes, it is sad. Whenever I start on someone's family history, I say they may not like what I find. Not put anyone off yet!
I didn't watch the Mrs Wilson series, but I've heard of people discovering their "husbands" were not.
