Hi, Rusty!
I am afraid that I only considered them as jetties - the usage of the word "mole" completely escaped me...... I only learned that today.
I shall go to bed a wiser woman than when I awoke this morning!
Yes, both our dogs were rescues from Battersea......and all bar one of our many cats have been strays.
It is good to give a home to a "rescued" animal.
And we have been amply rewarded by their love and devotion.
I am going to make a coffee...and maybe have a scone?....before my serial begins at 9 o'clock.

Good morning, Rusty!
Are you about?
I had a pleasant walk around the park this morning - a lovely beginning to the day; crisply cold, with blue sky and sunshine.
But my poor husband will have got drenched on the way to his physio class, as it then sleeted down very heavily.
April showers with a vengeance!
I am (slowly) doing today's xword...…
There seems to be a mistake in 13d?
And I cannot make sense of 7d?

Good afternoon, Elle!
A fine day here!
Not long home from seeing my nurse.
All results good, except one.
I finished the puzzle earlier but it took me a while.
I agree that 13d seems to be skew whiff!
I have "ostrich egg" which is not an anagram of "gorges this".
I can not but think this is an error?
7d, I am not on setter's wavelength.
I have "Henri", a poet, apparently.
I can't tie in "emperor" though?
There were several Holy Roman Emperors called "Henry", but is that the same as "Henri"?
And 18d, I have "knitter", but why "purser"?
Should it read "purler".
There are stitches called "purls", but "purses"?
I will leave it for a while.
Going to watch the racing from Aintree!

Rusty, I thought 18 D was fine - purse and knit both mean to pucker, pull together. I thought this was a very odd puzzle and I didn't fare very well! There seems to be another error, at 11 A.

Hello, Malone!
Right, I had "purl" in my head to do with knitting!
I see, now, the error in 11a "Lufthansa", not an anagram at all!
I presumed it was!
I have "Trot" for 1d, but not a convincing clue.
I do not like criticising setters, but I fear this puzzle is less than satisfactory, to me!

Thanks, Rusty. I think the Times puzzles are usually of such a high standard that any errors at all are more noticeable - and more annoying! II agree about 1 D - it fitted, but doesn't totally work.

Hello, Malone!
I agree about today's puzzle.
Let's hope it's a one off!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I, too, am home now....a tad battered from the very heavy hail that hit us (literally) whilst we were out walking!
I had forgotten that you had to go back to see the nurse for your blood test results.....may I put on my 'professional hat' and ask which result wasn't a "good" one?
(but of course no need to say if you would prefer not)
Yes, an odd sort of puzzle today......
I think "ostrich egg " was obviously meant to be an anagram, but there was an "s" provided instead of a "c", wasn't there?
I think 11a was also an anagram of "flaunt", " h " , and "as" giving "Lufthansa"
I think the setter may have been giving a bit of 'misdirection', when he mentioned "large"......
If you look up "Lufthansa " on Google , it is referred to as the "largest German airline"...... so I think it possible that "large" was meant to be part of the definition?
That is my take on it, anyway!
No, I couldn't parse 7d, although I have "Henri" as the answer?
And I cannot do 2d: C???A?M?N
and 19d: D?H?S?E
Are you able to help me here, please?
After all that rain and hail, it is now sunshining again !

Hello, Elle.
Nurse said my liver ALT is slightly raised, but nothing to worry about.
No need to see Doc.
She is repeating the test in two weeks.
7d, Hen is "one to brood". "R" for king, and "one"/i is in clue, or is that the emperor? No idea!
2d, is "Cellarman" a drink manager. "Ell" is the measure. To prepare is "arm", inside "can"/container.
19 is new to me. "Dehisce". Of French is "de" I think, welcomes are "Hi's" and CE for civil engineer.
I have not looked up "dehisce" to see what does it mean.
Sunny showers here, too.

Rusty (and Elle), the Times website has corrected the clue for 11 A - 'large' has been removed. There is also a new clue for 13 D.
