For Le Tour fans.
Before the Tour arrives on Champs Elysees there is a race for Elite women taking place there.
The best women road riders in the world.
"La Course by Le Tour de France"
Should be exciting.
ITV4 and Eurosport at 1.00.
Allez, Lizzie!

When we lived in Norfolk we had to keep the dogs on leads in the dunes as young couples got rather a shock when two hairy beasts found them,in various stages of undress, although the books say all Airedales like water non of ours have but they did like the sand

Hi, Rusty!
Back again ...somewhat wet, but not too bad....it's settled in to a medium drizzle now. So not too disastrous for the Games.
Yes, that's right - Day three, the Paralympics. on Channel 4. That's what is said in my TV guide, too ( I cannot understand why Doglet couldn't find it - she had me wondering if my guide was wrong!)
I'm watching it now.......I expect you are watching Lizzie? I hope she does well.
I'll look in on the Tour ride to Paris later.....
Enjoy your viewing!

Hello everyone,

Apologies for rain in Paris !

Same here in fact which is a shame since the village had its annual Brocante (granary/loft in the street). No so much fun under the rain but still a lot of people.

Not sure I will see the very end of the Tour because am going to my English Friends for a ........... barbecue ?
Hope it can take place, otherwise it will be salads.

Hope you all enjoy the Champs Elysees ceremony and let's hope no one falls - I gather the powers that be have, quite sensibly, recommended no harsh sprint, or something to that effect.

Talk later

Hello, Elle, still a nice day here!
Lizzie came fourth. Not too bad, but should have done better. Her lead-out train were not quite up to it!
Too many crashes, too
.
Pigale, it's too warm for a barbecue, go for a salad!
Rain in Paris, unfortunately.
I hope Peter Sagan wins. He is not a super-fast sprinter but fingers crossed!

Hey, Rusty!
What an exciting end to the Tour! If you'd told me at the beginning that I would end up liking it, I don't think I would have believed you! but since I've begun to understand it better, I have also begun to enjoy it more!
I must thank you for your patience in explaining it all to me! I did doubt that I would ever grasp it but it did begin to fall into place!! You did a good job!
Today seemed a very fitting end , don't you think? and Chris Froome spoke very graciously thanking his team etc., I liked that.
A pity Lizzie didn't do better in her race , as I know you like her - I hope no one was hurt in the crashes you mentioned?
I didn't manage to see her race, as I was watching the Paralympics. Excellent performances there.
It's cold here - still damp outside with intermittent showers. We even had the heating on for a while as it was so chilly! Heating in July - incredible!

Hello, Elle, I did not hear Chris.
But yes, his team did a great job for him.
Poor Lizzie and her new bike!
She had new shoes too.
Very snazzy and girly looking!
You have heating on?
Gee whizz! Not too bad here. About 10°C outside.
It has been a long summer of sport.
I am weary watching it!

Do you know what Rusty, It was not too hot to have a barbecue ! In fact the barbecue was obviously cooked outside but we had to eat inside - mixture of rain and cold (cool to you) damp weather. Only 18C, and difficult to cope with such change in temperature!

Elle, I actually did put the electric rad on for an hour latge afternoon, before going out - it was just getting too chilly.

Your friend Griepnel had his win on the Champs and I see that Coquart made it 2nd - that something I suppose ! All in all, the Tour was very interesting, with new route such as the Lacets.

Sorry to hear about many crashes for the ladies race; one man fell in the peloton as well, but did not catch his name when I watch the replay of last km.

Highlights again today.

I thought it in very bad taste that the Sky team had special kit with yellow flashes rather than blue - what's the word for it? - hubris?
