I will try and find an amusing outfit and put "hi rusty" on a placard!
It will be on BBC (not sure which channel as yet) on 1st August (London ride) and 2nd August (London through Surrey) same as last year.
They are hoping Wiggo will be there

Rusty, apparently since after retiring from racing, Gilbert Duclos-Lasalle has been working as a TV commentator - and still does as far as I know.

He has a son, (Herve I think) who also is a professionnal cyclist.

Jazzgirl, I have put your info in my new calendar I have just downloaded. Thank you!
Don't overdo the exuberance. Best not get arrested!
I'll enjoy all the nice countryside. I did last time.
Not quite like the Alpine scenery but smashing to see, nevertheless!

Thank you for the update on Duclos-Lasalle, Pigale.
Good to know he is still to the fore!

Hi, Jazzy,
I remember watching the cycling last year, passing nearby where you live.
The race went past some vineyards in Dorking, didn't it?
You posted a link....beautiful countryside!
I remember thinking we should drive over there and explore, as it isn't all that far from us - we never did so, though!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, it may not have been the result you personally were hoping for in the Tour, but it was certainly exciting, wasn't it!
I only managed to watch the highlights, but it was somewhat nail-biting, edge of sofa stuff, partly because of the intensive attack on Froome by Quintana, and partly because of the extreme heights and narrow roads (I suffer from acrophobia!)
So Chris Froome is the overall winner - and also wins the polka dot jersey? ( Have I got that last bit right?)
Surely he deserved to win, though, didn't he? at least to my inexperienced eyes he and his team seemed to be playing it very skilfully?
So tomorrow is basically a triumphal procession?
And you have Lizzie to watch, too, tomorrow!
The Athletics was much simpler! A very good day at Olympic Stadium! and we had a lovely sunny day for it too! At least the pole vaulting was able to go ahead today! After Lavillenie pulled out yesterday because of the potential dangers so close to the World Championships, it was decided to postpone the competition until today, so that all could take part safely.
More tomorrow...... and then the World Championships in Beijing next month!
We seem to be inundated at the moment with sports events - all happening more-or-less at once!
