Good evening, Elle!
I think the rain has stopped!
Pine Cone with Miss O tomorrow!
I'll be getting a season ticket shortly!
My son was measuring ironmongery in windows.
Hinges etc may need replaced and he is going to fit new rubber weatherstrip seal things....when he gets time!
I think the seals deteriorate/shrink with age.
He dashed off to meet his wife and they went to Curry's to get a television set in the Black Friday sales.
My next door neighbour is going mad with Christmas buying.
I have taken delivery of quite a few parcels for her lately!
I agree the puzzle was easier today.

Hello, Pigale and Rosalind!
If you use the Chrome browser, you normally just tick the Captcha box.
Other browsers have you looking for palm trees and motor bikes etc!

Hi pigale

I dislike Christmas very much indeed. My best one was when we all went to Egypt (this was straight after 9/11 so we had the place to ourselves!) and the second best when we had a picnic in our local woods; in both cases just my immediate family. Now I get organised as soon as I can and then try and forget it. However, we do have some rituals like a tunnel I construct (from garden cloches covered with duvets, rugs and blankets) for the children to crawl through, lit by small "candles", goes from the front door round a bend towards the Tree! At the end are knitted Christmas mice with sacks containing chocs! Also a game involving collecting pieces of wool from matching backgrounds all round the house, and a gingerbread house which takes at least a whole day to decorate! I hope the children remember these things after I've gone.

elle- the Nordman Fir I bought is about 4' high. I think it was grown on the Whithorn Peninsula in SW Scotland. I watered it gently today outside, where it will stay until 23rd.

I don't know which whatever I have, rusty and don't mind counting cars!

Hi, Rusty!
You are certainly becoming a regular at the Pine Cone!
We have family coming over here this weekend.......on Sunday though, after BB ha had his morning tennis lesson!
He is doing well at tennis now, although he is not as proficient as he is at football.
( I am still ranking high in his estimation with my heel kicks!
"Only Grandma can do them correctly"!)
Are they casement windows, then, that need the replacement hinges?
We have those in our kitchen.
In the past, we found that one of our cats could open them, and he used to let all the other cats out again, after we had brought them all in for the night!
Re the puzzle, I liked 14a!

Hello, Elle!
Posts crossed!
That's good your family is visiting!
Wonder what your daughter will make of you on the Brave browser!
I think my windows are called "turn and tilt".
The weather seals are definitely getting replaced as they have been there for years and are maybe not as efficient as they once were....a bit like myself!
There is a lot of iromongery in the windows, not sure what it is all for.
I have forgotten the clues in the puzzle!

Hi, Rusty!
Oops, so they did!
There is quite a big difference in the comparative prices of the Pine Cone trees and those from the Sholach farm, isn't there?
It is a wonder that the latter does any business ...their trees are really most expensive!
Ah, I think I know what you mean about your windows...they sound similar to those of one of my neighbours....
Apart from the casements in the kitchen which open wide onto the garden, the rest of the main part of our windows throughout the house are "fixed", with only the top windows opening (if you can follow that?)
14a: Change tone of start of John Peel song? (3)
Answer: D'ye = change tone of (def)
I liked it...it tickled my fancy!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, the Sholach trees are a bitty pricey!
The Pine Cone/Tayside Forestry have 120,000 trees ready to be delivered.
All my windows are turn and tilt.
I chose them years ago.
I remember 14a now!
A good clue! I liked it, too.

Good morning, Rusty!
Another wet day here!
Albeit 6C, so a bit warmer than of late.
I had a very muddy dog by the time I returned home this morning.
Give me cold and dry any day!
I hope your weather is better than this?
You will be looking forward to seeing Miss O!
What time is she collecting you?

Good morning, Elle!
Our rain has stopped!
Seems to be brightening outside!
Not sure when we are going out.
Moss O likes a long lie at the weekend.
So, I'll just wait until she is ready.

Hi, Rusty!
I think our rain is here for the duration!
I am expecting a couple of parcels to be delivered today.....so I shall be confined to barracks in any case, rain or no rain, until they arrive.
Hopefully, they will come before it is time for the afternoon walk.
Meanwhile I shall take a look at my crosswords; John has sent me four!!
Enjoy your outing with Miss O!
