Hi, Rusty!
Ah yes, I remember "The Nun's Story".
You are, of course, quite right, Audrey Hepburn was indeed in that.
And also in "Gigi" with Louis Jourdan as the young romantic male lead, with Maurice Chevalier and Hermione Gingold providing the older romance.
"I remember it well"!
They were fantastic in that song!

Hello, Elle!
You remember much more than I do!
It would not have been my kind of film though.
I was more of a Maureen O'Hara film fan!
Did you know she was a friend of Che Guevara?
They got on very well, apparently.
She met him in Cuba while filming "Our Man in Havana".

Good morning, Rusty!
We have sunshine today......but it is much colder.
Good walking weather!
Now ..my memory?
The things that I 'remember' are of little historical consequence!
Isolated incidents....William Huskisson becoming President of the Board of Trade Act in 1823 (Lord only knows why I should remember that?); Louis XIV's valet finding bit of Louis' toes in his socks; Marie Antoinette 's hair turning white overnight ...and her saying "Why not give them cake " on learning that there was no bread!; and, of course, Garibaldi being shot...in the foot!!
All very useful info!
I didn't see the film "Our Man in Havana " but, a very long time ago now, I read Graham Greene's book.
A kind -of send-up of MI6 for which Graham Greene used to work, I think?
What are you up to today?

Good afternoon, Elle!
We had frost this morning and it's a beautiful day now.
I have been painting metal railings this morning.
Finished now, though, and that is all I am up to today.
I did not know about Marie Antoinette's hair turning white overnight?
("canities subita", which is a new phrase to me!)
I have read that that is not possible?
Hair is already dead, surely?
Her hair was cut short at the neck on the morning of her execution.
I did not see "Our Man in Havana", too, that I can remember.
Just know what what Maureen O'Hara said about Che Guevara.
One, or perhaps two, of Che's forebears came from Galway.
Lynch was the surname.
Puzzle was not too bad today?

Good afternoon, Rusty!
It has been glorious here , too!
We have only just returned home.
We took advantage of the lovely sunshine, and went out walking, with the dog.
Goodness, I have no idea as to the plausibility of Marie Antoinette's hair suddenly turning white?
That is simply what I was taught...and what I remembered!
I think I've seen the phenomenon referred to as the "Marie Antoinette syndrome"?
Yes, the crossword was reasonable today.....but somehow I didn't enjoy it as much as yesterday's puzzle.
Did you find this?
Your son will be arriving soon ........ you will be looking forward to seeing him, and hearing all about New York!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, hopefully my son will visit with a sticky bun for me from Tiffany's!
The hair turning white was said to have happened to Mary, Queen of Scots, too, before her execution.
I have read that a woman who was hanged at Exeter jail in 1936, her raven hair allegedly turned white in the six weeks she was in the condemned cell.
But who knows if that is true or not!
The bare minimum of detail was published regarding an execution being carried out, and hair colouring certainly did not come into it!
I thought it a good puzzle today, but less difficult than yesterday's.
I prefer a trickier one!

Hi, Rusty!
I hope you had a good chat with your son?
He will have been telling you all about their experiences in New York...and hopefully showing you lots of photographs!
What were their favourite places visited?
And did Miss L-B have an enjoyable birthday yesterday?

Good evening, Elle!
Yes, had a good chat with my son, with one eye on the snooker!
No photos, but his favourite place was the Rockefeller Center.
He told me there are only fourteen tables at Tiffany's and you have to book ahead.
Miss O booked at one minute past midnight, some time ago, and secured a table.
He loved walking along Broadway and said JFK Airport is far better than Orlando International.
(I discovered that Hartsfield-Jackson Airport at Atlanta, is the world's busiest airport.)
And they loved Central Park!
I have not spoken to the girls yet.
They enjoyed the birthday tea yesterday!

Hi, Rusty!
That is good that you had a good time with your son!
What did he like so much about the Rockefeller Centre?
I know nothing at all about it, except that I believe it has a grand viewing platform , doesn't it?
I am wondering if is a similar building to The Shard , near London Bridge station?
But I may of course be way off beam here!
I expect the girls took most of the photos..... they will be keen to show you when they next see you!
Hopefully, you will all be able to meet up at the Pine Cone this coming weekend...and they will be able to fill you in on their exploits!
Good that the birthday tea went well!

Hello, Elle!
It's "center" not "centre" in New York!
My son said the Rockefeller Center is just super.
They went ice-skating at the "Rink at the Rock", and there is lots to see and do there.
They loved the "Rink" and the ice-skating.
Cafes, shops, the views from on high, etc etc.
And they liked the New Yorkers!
My son had a quick trip to Wall Street, but it was hectic, he said.
I would have liked Wall Street if I was there.
Yes, hopefully I'll see the girls at the weekend!
