Good morning, Rusty!
It is a very wet one here!
I wore wellies and cagoule when out with the dog!
(Was I really "complaining" about the garden being dry?!)
I think this rain looks set in for the day ........
I am settling down with a coffee, an apple and a chunk of Cheddar cheese (brain power?) to attempt the Everyman.
I am seriously considering taking root for the day!

Hello, Elle!
"Taking root"?
That's a new phrase for me!
Yes, your weather forecast looks grim.
It is a beautiful day here, and the wind has dropped a bit.
"Bronagh" seemed to pass us by!
Good luck with your puzzle!
No puzzle for me today, my day of rest!

Hi, Rusty!
In this context, "taking root" means to "become settled or established".......
ie. I'm not going to shift!
We had initially planned to meet up with daughter and family in the park later on......halfway between our homes.......but this plan has been put on hold!
Maybe next weekend!
I'm off to a sluggish start with the crossword....my brain is in low gear.......

Hello, Elle!
I am with you now regarding "taking root".
Pity your weather is interfering with your plans.
Maybe best putting your puzzle aside for an hour or so?
May look more do-able after a break.

Hi, Rusty!
I think, at long last, our rain is reducing to a mere drizzle.
We may even have some sunshine later at this rate!
Yes, you were right...I wandered off, finished my last chapter of "Down Under"...and had the Everyman crossword all done and dusted within no time after the short break.
It wasn't difficult, I was just slow off the mark!
I even did the ST Cryptic after that!
I have been chatting to my eldest grandson ......it is his eleventh birthday today!
The family are going out to lunch to celebrate.
His birthday party for school friends is next weekend!

Good evening, Elle!
Good news about your weather!
It has been a great day here.
Forecast is to be cold during the night, though.
Some folk at ASDA yesterday, said they had to scrape windscreens that morning.... and it's only September!
Having a bit of a break often helps the crossword puzzle solving, I've found!

Good evening, Rusty!
Our day brightened considerably once the rain stopped, and we ventured forth to find some rather feeble sunshine.
It was decidedly chilly though.
But good to be out!
Night is drawing in now though.......it will dark within an hour.
Reading about Loch of the Lowes makes me wonder how the ospreys are doing?
Especially the rather backward chick...he really didn't seem all that self -sufficient when he left here....
I hope he survived the long journey to Africa.
Yes, I have heard that old saying that a lot of berries on the trees indicate a harsh Winter....
We have two holly trees in our garden.......there is but a light sprinkling of berries this year on our "female" tree.......normally by now we have many more.....
So I wonder will this mean a more clement Winter?
Let us hope so!

Hello, Elle!
I think the attrition rate for young ospreys is quite high.
Let's hope they make Africa, though!
Around here there are rowan berries everywhere on the ground after Storm Ali passed through.
I hope we have a mild winter!
I dislike black ice, for both walking and driving!

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been talking to my cousin...she had heavy rain earlier in the week, but this weekend has been lovely up there.
It seems to be mainly down south that has caught the torrential rain this last forty-eight hours.
Regarding the coming Winter......
I do not mind the cold temperature -wise, but I also fear the risks caused by snow and ice- and even heavy ground-frost if it makes the pavements slippery.
I have no objections though to wrapping up well, and striding out with the dog!
I enjoy a brisk invigorating walk!
You mentioned watching the golf this evening.....
How is that going?
