Hi, Rusty!
Home again......
My friend has dropped me off, and is driving back to Essex.
We had a good lunch and a great catch up!
How was your outing to the Pine Cone?
You will miss the midweek outings when your granddaughters are back to school in their respective capacities!
Have you had chance to investigate toasters on Amazon?
There seems to be quite a wide selection......
One or two are on Sale, so you could get a better quality for a cheaper price?
I am belatedly doing my crossword........

Hello, Elle!
Glad you had a good time!
Me too!
Yes, It will be quiet for me when schools go back next week.
Now we are at cross purposes, Elle!
It was dictionaries I was for looking at on Amazon.
I can get a fine toaster in ASDA or Tesco, locally.
It is a good puzzle today.
I think 15a is a smashing clue!

Hi, Rusty!
Oops, sorry, if I got it wrong....
But looking back, your post was most ambiguous!
You mentioned there being no shops near the Pine Cone, in which to buy a toaster......
And then said that you would browse Amazon later!
( I didn't follow your mind leap!)
Anyway, no matter!
My crossword is very nearly finished...….
I solved some clues earlier before I went out...and am doing the rest on my return.
Yes, 15a is a good clue......I have "pied-a-terre".
I especially liked 9a: ghost town and 27a: bete noire
I cannot parse 22d?
The writer's drawn to men and women's feet (5)
iambi = (metrical) feet, as definition
But how is the rest of it parsed , please?
Is your son coming to see you tonight?
Is it tomorrow they go to The Netherlands?

Hello, Elle!
22, The setter is saying "I am bi (sexual)".
Someone who is attracted to men and women.
I think "iambi" is to do with verse.
I can get a toaster locally.
But I use Amazon for books.
Sorry for confusion.
Yes, Holland tomorrow.
I think my son is coming to see me.
Not heard otherwise

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for explaining about "I am bi"........I couldn't see it!
Speaking of Amazon, all four of my books have now arrived!
I am very pleased with them; all are in excellent condition, and cost me very little.
Well, our builders could do no work at all today!
In the end, they went home!
It never stopped pouring down at all, although late this evening, it is now fine!
I am hoping that they will be able to fit in the rest of the work tomorrow....if the rain holds off.......
If they have to go over into next week, they will be behind schedule with their next job.
I should hate for that to happen.
I hope you and your son have had a good time together?

Apart from the delay to your building work, you must surely be pleased to see the rain, elle?
No play at Lord's today, unfortunately!

Good evening, Elle!
My son has gone home now!
Had a nice time.
We had the Berlin athletics on in the background.
I thought "I am bi" was a good clue?
My 2019 diary arrived today from Amazon!
Fine evening here, though there was a heavy shower of rain and a double rainbow!
Your builders will have dealt with the rain knocking their schedule sideways many times.
I am sure they will do their very bestest!

Good evening, Rusty!
I, too, have been watching the Athletics.
It was good to see Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake take the Silver medal
in the Men's 400m.
Adam Gemili came fifth.
And Holly Bradshaw did well in winning Bronze in the Pole Vault..
GB is still retaining its second place in the medal tables!
We have just had a nasty thunderstorm.......dog is unhappy…..
What time is your son's flight tomorrow?
I hope they are successful in managing to reach their holiday destination this time around!

Hello, Chris!
Yes, I am indeed glad to see the rain...although not tonight's thunderstorm!
And it is especially nice to have the much lower temperatures.
It is just ironical that after all the dryness we have been experiencing, it should happen to rain just when our front paving, and our back patio terrace are awaiting re-pointing!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here.
My son and his wife are on the way to Edinburgh now.
The aeroplane leaves around ten o'clock.
He told me it is extremely slow going at the airport.
Lots of waiting around.
He said it is very difficult to get tickets for Anne Frank's house tour.
I noticed that not all competitors at the Berlin championships are wearing their countries team kit.
Wonder why?
Hope your builders get a break in the weather to finish their jobs!

Good morning, Rusty!
It was beautiful here, when I first went out for my walk, but it has been gradually clouding over.
Rain is due at noon!
The builders have been hard at work since 8 am; I wonder whether they will beat the rain!
Your son and his wife should be airborne by now then, if all goes to schedule.....
It is a good job they are travelling with Easyjet .......and not Ryanair!
I hadn't noticed that some of the athletes were not dressed in their country's strip?
I shall pay more attention today!
Right, I think another tea-break is due......
Disgusting stuff...I don't know how any one can drink it!
