Hi, Rusty1
I am having an evening of watching Athletics...still one hour to go tonight.....
GB is doing very well so far in the Medal tables.
Are you watching?
It is very hot in Berlin, but apparently there is not much water laid on for the athletes.
Our own commentators here are complaining about that.
It is dark here now with a threatening sky......
Rain is promised by 9 o'clock for four hours!
I wonder will it really happen?
I think an ideal temperature would be 20 to 22C!

Hello, Pigale!
We have rain threatened .....but hopefully no thunder!
I hope you do not have too bad a storm......
I think Rusty is right in that Lassie is "stocking up" for her journey!
It would make sense.
I think she will go soon.

Good morning, Elle!
Fine start to the day.
Temp high will be 18C, just fine for me!
Did you get your promised rain?
I have not seen any athletics yet.
Laura Muir's final is not until Sunday evening, not sure if there are heats though?
I noticed that the cycling events shown on BBC were not live though, or at least some of the track events were a few minutes behind the EuroSport transmission.
Good luck with the builders!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
A lovely morning here.....bright and sunny.....and cool(ish)!
About 20C at present, although it is meant to rise to 25C later.
Yes, we did get several hours of (much needed) heavy rain last night!
And seemingly it will rain all day tomorrow!
The Athletics yesterday evening was quite exciting....
Dina Asher -Smith took Gold in the 100m; she broke her own British record.
Our other Brit in that event came sixth.
And Zharnel Hughes and Reece Prescod won the Gold and Silver medals respectively in the Men's 100m.
CJ Ujah came fourth.
The builders are power-cleaning the paving at the moment.......

Hello, Elle!
A bit cloudy here. Could be rain on the way!
Sounds like your builders are almost finished?
I have caught up with the athletics, I think.
There was a bit on Breakfast BBC about Serena Williams and Trotty being "new Mums" and competing in sport.
It was very interesting!
A tough puzzle today! It's Wednesday!
2d, is new to me.
I can't parse 26a, yet!
I have never ever seen 19d spelled like that.
Other than that, it was enjoyable!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Yes, the builders are coming towards the end of their list!
They are doing the power washing of the paving stones today....but there will be some re-pointing needed, so maybe they will leave that for another day?
Various other odd jobs have come to light that they have been tackling as they went along!
It will all be finished this week anyway - although tomorrow may be out of the question if we get the heavy rain currently forecast.
I have found today's puzzle very hard!
I have five clues that I cannot do .....12a; 17a; 20a; 25a; and 2d.
And I cannot parse 7d; "unhitch"
26a is "Oho" = "What a surprise!" (def)
h - hotel
0-0 is a notation for castling in chess.
(It is quite a few years since I last played!)

Hello, Elle!
Let's hope the weather holds for your builders!
Lovely afternoon here!
Wednesday's puzzles are the hardest, Elle, by design.
7d, The "UN", United Nations headquarters are in Manhattan, NY. "hitch" is "yank".
12a, is to do with ice skating, a man's name, who originated this jump, and it is not Axel.
Anne B could help!
17a, a bad mouther could be a "disser"....
20 "Oz" is Australia, surrounded by a word meaning "leave" for an island, though I have no idea where it is!
25a, The "miss" is a "gal", around "nothing/o".
"Or" refers to metal, giving a "match winner".
2d, I had never heard of in my puff.
The answer is "mosh pit", believe it or not.
Not in my Chambers!
Thank you kindly for the "o-castling".
New to me, as a non chess player!
Hope this helps.

Rusty, your Chambers is showing its age - 'mosh pit' is in my much newer edition! And Gozo is a small island, off Malta.

Hello, Malone!
Thank you for that!
I looked up Gozo to see wherever it was.
And...!
I am pondering buying a "new" Chambers.
"Chambers Dictionary of the Unexplained".
Looks very interesting!

Rusty, that new dictionary sounds interesting - well, so long as it's about unexplained words (and phrases) and NOT about spooky things!

No, Malone!
I think it's about ghosts and things that go bump in the night!
Great bedtime book!
I am tempted!
