Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it is great to see the little ones encouraged....
The tennis competition was run by the same organisation that coaches the children in tennis, on Sunday mornings.
Firstly , free lessons are provided to see if the children enjoy the sport.....and then after two free courses, one can book up for regular lessons each term.
BB has been learning for about a year now.......and he is only six now!
He is left-handed, but this has been dealt with very successfully, and he is developing quite a good two-handed backhand!
I am very proud of the fact that he has learnt to lose gracefully...when necessary!
It is good that Le Tour is going well.
I may well look in on Tuesday and see some of the magnificent mountain scenery.....and maybe a bear?
Jamie and Victoria were simply out played, weren't they?
Their opponents were just too good for them!
Right.....I must phone my cousin!

Hello, Pigale!
I am glad all is okay with you!
Just a quickie for now...as it is my turn to phone my cousin.
Usually we ring about 7.30 pm but I was watching tennis.... and forgot the time!
Congratulations on France's winning the World Cup!
The team did well!

Hello, Elle!
It is great that BB enjoys his tennis, and knows how to accept a defeat in a gracious manner.
Well, now...It is the French Alps on Tuesday for several days, and you may have to wait until the Pyrenees for your bear!
But the scenery will be super.
This is some of the wildlife in the French Alps.
Would you settle for a wolf?https://undiscoveredmountains.com/french-alps/wildlife
I agree about the mixed doubles winners.
They were very good, and new names to me!
I spotted Rod Laver in the crowd.
He's looking well!

Hi, Rusty!
A wolf may be fine......thank you for the link.......but I have a penchant for a bear!
Whew! If this heat continues, and my daily walking is restricted as a result, I shall certainly miss having the tennis to watch!
Wimbledon has been a godsend during the extreme heat.
Rod Laver has been there most days...as has Bjorn Borg, Martina Navratolova, and Billie -Jean King.
Chris Evert - I think you like her? - was out on court talking to Sue Barker the other day.
Chris was looking good!
Richard Attenborough was among the spectators the other day.
I think I told you I saw Shirley Bassey there one day?
My cousin tells me they might have rain tomorrow!
There appears to be no sign of it in our forecast for at least another week........
Isn't it about time there was some Athletics due?

Hello, Elle!
Why not email Jonathan Edwards at EuroSport and tell him you want to see a bear during Le Tour, pretty please?
Jonathan is a very obliging lad and I am sure he will do his best for you!
I saw Martina and Billie-Jean and Princess Kate.
I did not see Bjorn or Chrissie though.
Yes, Chrissie was a favourite of mine, and so was Bjorn.
I saw Boris Becker in the studio. I do not care for him, at all.
I don't think I would recognise Shirley Bassey nowadays.
You have athletics next Saturday.
The Diamond League highlights from Monaco, and the Anniversary Games.
The Anniversary Games is at London over Saturday and Sunday.
I think BBC will cover it.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, that is good about the Athletics!
It will be the Muller (I cannot do the umlaut) Anniversary Games at the London Stadium.
I shall look forward to that.
Now I read in my TV guide that "The Voice Kids: UK" was back yesterday, on ITV.
It first began last year, and was very good - the children were enthralling and very talented, and I enjoyed the programme.
I was looking forward to its return!
But instead of its being shown each Saturday for the requisite number of weeks, as before, I am disappointed to discover that it is all going to be crammed into one week's viewing!
It is on every single evening!
So I shall not bother to watch... a pity...but I do not want to have to watch the television every evening to see it through!
What a nuisance!
Ah well!
I think I need a coffee......

Hi Elle,

Well done BB! good play and good sportsmanship is very
commendable at such young age in particular. As Ros said,
4 out of 5 is good, and then the team-win ! I bed he feels elated
and proud, and so he should be.

Thanks for your comments too, as well as Ros and Rusty -
Just looked at the Champs Elysées (not far from midnight here!) and
they and the Champ de Mars, etc, are still black with people! (probably a whole night session!)

When we won in 1998, they reckoned that almost 1 million and a half
folks were there, and I reckon it will be the same this year!

The country needed this kind of event and this is marvellous for
France's morale, when different nationalities living in the country
celebrate all together. I reckon only sport can achieve this.

Good morning, Elle!
A bit cloudy so far!
Second chick is alone in the nest, perched on the rim.
Could this be the day he flies?
Why not record the series of "The Voice:Kids" and watch when it suits you?
No sport today. A welcome break!
The Anniversary Games at the weekend should be good, I think.

Update, Elle!
I wondered why I had not heard anything about the Loch Arkaig ospreys this year.
It appears that they were victims of nature in the raw.

Well done to BB and I have just noticed he is left-handed.
He is in good company, then, with other "lefties" - John McEnroe, Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors. ......
Who knows how far he may go if he continues to enjoy his tennis !
