Haven't liked any pop music since the Beatles! So it was an hour of live "music" before it was my grandson's turn (he was last, being newest) in the boiling heat. Ah well, all done now. Hope BB does well.

Hope you enjoy BB in his tournament, Elle!
Don't overdo the "shriekin' and a-hollerin'".
And pay due respect to BB's opponents!
The ice cream and cold drinks would be surely welcome!

Enjoy your grandson's tennis competition, Elle.
I hope he does really well.
It got me wondering what happened to a teenager who stayed at our hotel when I was just 12 yrs. He asked me to join him in a game of tennis at the local courts, but dear Mother interrupted and said I was too shy and had only "knocked around" with friends anyway.
He said he could give me a few pointers and he had a spare racket.
It was not to be.
I searched yesterday and discovered he is now President of a Lawn Tennis Club in Kent.
I am so pleased he made such wonderful progress.
As for me, I just watch others in admiration

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I just arrived home in time to see Novak take the third set ......and win the Championship!
Well done him!
I am very pleased!
Now...BB.......
He won three out of his four "matches"!
And his team - the children were split into two divisions - went on to win the tournament!
Each child received a certificate for having taken part.
The runners -up also each received a badge......
And the members of the winning team each received a medal!
A good afternoon!
The organisers did a wonderful job!
How is Le Tour going?
I hope there haven't been any "spills" going over the cobbles?
If you have the time....Jamie and Victoria will playing on Centre Court very shortly...…

Thank you, Ros and Jazzgirl!
Yes, I did enjoy the children's tennis competition......as very obviously did all the young participants!
It was very well organised.

Hello Elle and Rusty!

Not the easiest of stage, is it Rusty? A lot of problems for the
riders! and if the temperature is similar to what it is here, it must be
well over 30C on the road!

Sorry I have not been in touch for a while - just been busy getting
the house ready for an English friend who is coming to stay for about
10 days. I am looking forward to his visit.

Today, I am doing very little, a) because it is far too hot, and b) because
I am keeping an eye on the cycling.

Hope your afternoon with BB playing tennis is going along fine
Elle - the main thing is that your grandchild enjoys himself, proud
in the knowledge that his family is watching him - and a win would
be nice....

View the number of cars crossing the village going mad on their
klaxon, I would say that we have just won the World Cup in
football!

Though not a great fan of the sport, I must admit I am rather proud
of my country!!!

Thanks Jazzy - The Champs Elysées (and many other towns in
the country) is black with people jumping up and down and
singing!
The team is coming back to the Champs tomorrow afternoon -
I wonder if the coach will be able to move forward!!!

Good evening, Elle!
Well done BB and team!
Great to see the young ones getting on!
Le Tour is going very well.
They have a rest day tomorrow and into the mountains on Tuesday.
Today's stage was won by John Degenkolb.
I was delighted for him as he has had a lot of injuries.
Greg van Avarmaet extended his lead in the yellow jersey.
The stage itself was full of incident, as expected.
Numerous crashes.
Richie Porte abandoned after a crash, and that was before he got to the cobbles.
We got to see the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge.
Did you know the French Government has ceded the ground at Vimy Ridge to Canada?
In effect, a piece of Canada in France.
A very nice touch, I think.

Good evening, Pigale!
Nice to hear from you!
An exciting stage today, Pigale, as expected.
But at least the cobbles were dry, or there may have been more crashes.
The mountains on Tuesday.
Going to Le Grand-Bornand, which I think is a ski resort.
France have a fine football team and are worthy winners of the World Cup.
Well done!
