Good Morning Elle and Rusty et al
I am shortly off out for the day, so just poppjng in to say that the online consensus among solvers was that "revolving door" was " one of those lovely wordplay in the answer clues" (which I did not see the "beauty of" ) !
Hope the day is pleasant for everyone

Good morning, Jazzgirl!
Thank you for the update.
I did not really take to that clue at all!
Provoked a nice debate, though.
Hope you have a pleasant day out!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
I am already exhausted this morning!
It is hot and very close out, and we dog walkers were dragging ourselves around the park
No one had any energy!
The local forecast said a light breeze - they lied! - and rain later on....
Time will tell about the latter!
We could certainly do with some rain, though .
Ah yes, of course, your schools break up for the Summer holidays well ahead of ours.
I think my cousin's grandson goes back mid -August?
You and Miss O will have a nice time together tomorrow!
I hope today's crossword is "friendlier" than was yesterday's!

Hello, Jazzgirl!
I endorse Rusty's sentiment that it is good to have a discussion/ debate about an issue!
It stimulates our brains!
Enjoy your outing!

Good morning, Elle!
It's hot!
I would not mind heavy rain for a couple of hours!
Miss O finished school last Thursday.
Now, it is opportune she suggested a bacon roll tomorrow.
For I have dropped my Chromebook and the fall has damaged the edge of the screen.
Pixels damaged, I think?
I think a repair would be impractical.
So, we shall take in Currys on the way to Pine Cone tomorrow.
I have completed the puzzle, Elle, and I did not notice any bear traps to fall into!
Though 13d is not unlike the "revolving door" one!
A good puzzle though, I liked it!

Hello Elle and Rusty!

Hot and close already!

Just had a peep at 'Times for the Times', and in there there are
explanations about both today's and, below, yesterday's crossword.

You certainly were on the right track, but I don't think the explanation
resolves anything...............?

Hello, Pigale!
Hot here, too!
Oh, for a downpour!
I do not think the clue was a success, if experienced solvers are debating how it works, and where and what the parse is.
It should be more obvious, for me.
Unfortunately we will never know what the setter had in his/her head!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear!
That must have been some fall, if your Chromebook is damaged beyond repair?
Or is simply that repairing it might cost more than buying a new one?
I think that principle applies to a lot of appliances these days!
Will you buy the same or a similar model?
At least you will have your computer expert with you to offer advice!
My Hudl is still "going strong".... the new battery worked wonders!
And only cost £10!
Yes, I have finished my crossword , too.
A relatively nice one today, I thought?
I have answers for all the clues, and think I have parsed them all correctly.......
I thought "B-lister" for 4d a bit odd , though?
I have never come across the term before?
So is there an "A-lister" too, then ?
I suppose there must be!
And "titfer" had me puzzling for while in 16a!
I didn't see anything amiss with 13d?
I have "ground floor" = "enter as novice" (def)
( meaning, I thought, coming in at the bottom level when new?)
g- golf
floor- puzzle
round- 18 holes
Is this what you have ?

Hello, Pigale!
I thought 16a yesterday a most unsatisfactory clue..... but at least it lead to an interesting discussion!
So we can say at least it served a purpose....!
We are forecast four hours rain at 4pm!
Mmm........we shall see if it ever happens!

Hello, Elle!
I think my computer could be repaired, but probably needs a new display screen, could be pricey?
So, my preferred option is a new one.
This is a Toshiba model and they do not appear to be for sale in the UK any more.
I liked it a lot.
So, I'll perhaps get an Asus model.
Yes, Miss O is my computer expert!
Oh, yes, A-list and B-list, Elle.
It is to do with "celebrities" perceived status.
I am surprised it is new to you?
"Entering the ground floor" by "revolving door" jumped straight into my head!
Yes, my parse is yours, too.
Lucky you with your forecast rain!

Hi, Rusty!
My desk top is an Asus!
I have been very pleased with it.
A few surprises in the women's tennis....
I have just been catching up, reading the newsletter that I receive from Wimbledon each day of the tournament.
I see that Petra Kvitnova , previous Wimbledon winner , has surprisingly gone out to Sasnovich.
And Maria Sharapova has been beaten in the first round by what I think is a fellow countrywoman, Diatchenko.
First on Centre court this afternoon is Karolina Pliskova, who I think might stand a good chance of winning the tournament if she continues to play well.
But there are some very good female contenders.
Roger is playing second on Centre court, so I shall probably watch that match later.
Are you planning on watching any of the tennis?
Or do you have other plans?

Hello, Elle!
Is your Asus desktop trouble-free and wonderful?
That is the requirement I am looking for!
I will discuss with Miss O how much memory etc I need, but I think the basic model will do me fine.
The young ones all have Apple appliances, so my choice would maybe be a bit down market for them!
I just missed Madison Keys!
But she is through to the next round.
I shall look in on the tennis, and the pro-am at Ballyliffin.
Are you on the Wild Atlantic Way today?
Do you remember Hugh P and Maria (father and daughter singers, "I Heard the Bluebirds Sing")?
They live in Buncrana, which is on the WAW.
You could pop in for a visit?
