For what it's worth (and as an old friend used to say, which is what it cost i.e. nothing) I think revolving staff are those on short term contracts.

Hello, Rosalind!
I think you are correct.
Getting "rood" into "door" was the problem, but I see Chambers has one meaning of "revolve" being "return".
So that appears to make the clue/solution work fine, I think?

Yes, a good clue though I doubt I'd have solved it, at least without crossers.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, lovely out!
That breeze has saved the day!
I was able to catch the latter half of Rafa's match, on my return - good to see him win!
It wasn't a difficult match for him. although his opponent played some very good shots.
Thank you for the help with the crosswords!
I am still confused about "revolving door"?
I saw "rood" for "cross ", but I couldn't account for the "revolving" bit!
"Revolving" is in the answer, but NOT in the clue?
So how would we know "officially" to reverse "rood"?
I mean, I did , but cannot see any instruction to do so?
Oh dear, 22d really had me beat!
Firstly, I didn't realise that "off " meant "kill"..... and then I didn't know that "ice" was another word for "kill"!
So I would never in a million years have understood that!
Thank you so much for explaining it to me!
Okay.... back to the tennis!
(At least I can understand that!)

Hello, Elle!
I noticed yesterday that the first round losers received £39,000 each.
I was surprised it was so much!
Now,"revolving door".
This seems to be a clue from many years ago, where it is more of a general knowledge type of clue.
There is nothing in the clue to indicate a reversal of "rood" until you have the answer!
So, I can not help any more with that one, Elle!
I thought we had "ice"="off"="kill" a week or two ago?
Seems a familiar clue/answer to me?
I saw a bit of the tennis earlier.
Will take in the football later.
Big day tomorrow!
The Irish Open Golf Championship is on Sky.
But tomorrow is for the pro-am with A.P.McCoy etc, playing.
It comes from Ballyliffin in Donegal!
Ballyliffin is up in Inishowen.
A bit North of where my family come from.
Might even recognise a spectator!

Update, Elle!
This is where the golf is taking place at Ballyliffin.

https://www.visitballyliffin.com/

It in the Inishowen Peninsula, Donegal.
On the route of the Wild Atlantic Way.
It was in Inishowen that John Newton wrote "Amazing Grace".

Isn't the revolving clue just a sort of double definition? I don't think the letters are clued at all. Whatever

Here's my pennyworth :)

def. 1 It makes you cross (over the threshold) as you have no choice but to go through - you cannot go back

def. 2 "what short term personnel go through"
(employment of short term personnel is known as the "revolving door" policy.
Amen

Hi, Rusty!
Wow! Ballyliffin is such a beautiful place!
Thank you for the link.
And this is just a bit further north from your origins?
Your family live in Carrickfinn, don't they?
I am well impressed by the scenery on the Inishowen Peninsula...............
You will enjoy watching the golf there tomorrow!
It makes where I live look very dreary........
Although we have some beautiful countryside nearby in Kent, but that does mean a drive out.
I always wanted to move further out into the Kent countryside...but somehow we never did!
Family and friends tie us to here.......which of course is good!
I think there have been a few upsets at Wimbledon today-- seeds going out.
Katie Boulter of GB did well, winning her match eventually, after missing a match point in the second set, and the match going to a third set decider.

Hi Jazzgirl!
Yes, we're happy with "revolving door" meaning a short term employment change........
That was never in doubt!
It is the fact that "revolving " only appears in the answer.....and not in clue that is causing the hiccough!
