Hi,Doglet!
I've just had a quick look in my TV guide for any tennis on the 17th - can only see golf and cycling?
I always thought it was Mark Twain who said that about golf? but am probably wrong - will google it later on when I get time.
Raining here too - but we didn't get Wimbledon's rain yesterday when the tennis was rained off!
Was disappointed Roger F didn't win - but Novak played well and deserved the title!

Hello, Doglet,
My local paper today has 3 pages plus a supplement on T in the Park. I have not read any of it yet.
One or two things on the agenda!
But I doubt if the ospreys will get a mention. I shall let you know.
What I know is that everyone is saying that the new venue is not a patch on the old venue at Balado.
The weekend, though, was a success, due to the enthusiasm and get up and go of the youngsters.

Speaking about walks.
William Wordsworth walked prodigious distances every day.
25 miles would not discourage the bold William!
Up hill and down dale, literally!

Good day, young Elle!
I have since came across further articles saying Otzi had gum disease! And, they have found 19 descendants in Austria!
They are using tractors to clear the car parks at Strathallan. Up to the axles in mud. 5 hour hold ups. The promised bus service is non existent.
A blind man could see this coming, ospreys apart.
All the organisers could see were pounds, and the councils stood by and let this nonsense go ahead.
The only positives are that the youngsters resilience and enthusiasm made a weekend of it.
Time we had a revolution!
Yes, the car incident is disastrous.
That poor girl, and how long did her partner survive.
The death. Well, he is a man from the North of England.
Two things have been mentioned in the press.
Drugs, and a bottle assault. Just have to be patient to find out the reality.
When you are researching "the good walk spoiled" quote, could you possibly find out if they know who said," Say it aint so, Joe" to Shoeless Joe Jackson.
I am not sure they ever found out?
My Amazon kitty is depleted quite a bit!!.
But Otzi is at the head of the list, along with a book on Frankie Silver.

I have a book on the Iceman but a lot of new evidence has been discovered about him modern science has been very useful. There was a TV programme about the number of people who had died after being near him, very strange

Goodness, Doglet! Is it thought they caught something, or just a coincidence which people notice because getting near Otzi must have been /be unusual?

Hi again, Rusty!
Shoeless Joe Jackson....Joseph Jefferson Jackson, an American outfielder who played major league base ball? Right?
Okay... now it was after the court hearing about 'throwing' the 1919 World Series - the Black Sox scandal.....
Shoeless Joe was reported to have been asked by a youngster outside the court
"It ain't true, is it, Joe?"
""Yes, kid, I'm afraid it is" Jackson replied.
This is thought most likely not a true historical event, but rather something fabricated by a journalist out for a bit of sensationalism.
but it has become a 'legend'!
So there you are, Rusty!
Who is Frankie Silver? ( I could have googled that, but I'm sure you can tell me?!)
Now... how are you getting on with your new "tesco"? Have you "tescoed" round yet?
Reporting in on the hawthorn tree ........all quiet on the South -eastern front!

Hi Rosalind
They didnt seem to know quite why there had been unexpected deaths but of course there had been theories that the finding of his body and the following media circus broke some arcane rules and he should have been left in the ice

Elle, a brief visit home!
Yes, that's the Joe.
So, an urban myth, maybe?
Very disappointing
.
I shall tell you this much, Elle, the wee Tesco multi-cyclone thingy is great. And nice and light. £39.50 just, so it was

Frankie Silver was a young North Carolinian lady who was judicially hanged in the nineteenth century for killing her husband. It is an intriguing tale and I'd like to learn more.
There is song "The Ballad of Frankie Silver" and also speculation that she is the "Frankie" in the song "Frankie and Johnny". We shall find out.
Can't beat a bit of digging!

Doglet, that is intriguing about Otzi.
It is an amazing world!
