Elle, glad you liked the tennis.
Did Djokovic apologise to the young ballgirl yet?
No, Martina did not take performance enhancing drugs, and I would have preferred if it was Guinness instead of cocaine, but I shall let it go.
Maureen O'Hara and Emmylou still rule though.
Cycling was tough. BMC won the team time trial(TTT)
Now they fly down to the mountains. Waterfall alert!!! Rest day tomorrow.
You have a good grasp of what is going on and it is easy to pick up. ITV4 have excellent commentators who have both raced at a high level and explain everything fairly well. Even about the cathedrals and local cheeses, etc!
Blue hair?
That was subterfuge to confuse the little people.
Have you heard any faint music from the hawthorn tree?
You will have lots to share with "the ladies who lunch"!

Thanks Elle,

I look forward to hearing from Rusty about the Corries.

A little about me, not too much. I was born in Yorkshire, then in order of moves have also lived in Norfolk, Surrey, Sussex, North Cambridgeshire and now Suffolk. I used to be an avid DM Crossworder. My father taught me how to do Cryptic. I now am a keen ST Cryptic crossworder/ST Concise Crossworder and the RT crossworder.
I think I came across this site a year or so ago (memory!) and have been very grateful for all the help and I hope that from time to time I have been able to help others too.
Keen Tennis fan (watching not doing!) so have been busy this last fortnight glued to BBC!
Look forward to chatting.

Lilacwine. I wish I'd known you a fortnight ago!
I have been trying to interest everyone in the tennis but, apart from a few, everyone is 'cycling' mad!
I keep throwing in the tennis scores but I think they fall mainly on deaf ears!
Did you enjoy the Federer v Djokovic match this afternoon? Brilliant tennis, wasn't it?

Yes Rusty, I have watched a few google sites about Didi, and it has triggered my memory a little - I do remember seeing this disguise once (no more), on a mountain stage, and probably only took it as one of many funny outfits some fans do where on the Tour route; but I have obviously missed him on all other occasions, or had forgetten about him from one year to the next;

~When in mountain stage, and apart from the beautiful scenery which I know so well but could see over and over again, there is only one thing that interest me ; cycling, and I can get very annoyed when fans get too closed to the riders!

I might actually do a bit more than just the basic house work tomorrow ! But there again, apart from looking after the kittens (devils !!!) and their mother, I am free to do as I please!

Hello Elle,

Sorry that I have not give you any support in your interest in tennis - I read your comments and I know some of the names you mentioned, but that's as far as my own interest in the sport goes !

Will be happy to count you among the Tour enthusiasts from Bastille day onwards, the first mountain day. I am sure you will enjoy at least the scenery, and hope you'll take pleasure in the race - I think you might get more and more interested as the days go by.

Pigale, it could be that French Television did not show Didi, and Eurosport certainly did?
I know him very well, now, and expect to see him in the mountains, again.
I saw a photo taken earlier today of the two Bernards, on the podium. Thevenet and Hinault!
Both look very fit and healthy.
It is a long time since I saw Bernard Thevenet!
Pigale, I agree about the mad spectators not giving the riders room. On one infamous occasion, one punched Eddy Merckx in the stomach!
