Jazzgirl, a wee story!
I do not know how much of Scotland you know.
But, Glencoe is one of my very favourite parts.
Very wild and mountainous.
Last time I was up, still no mobile phone network. Signal cannot get through the mountains.
Great!
Anyway, there is a great pub in Glencoe called the Clachaig. Very popular with the climbers and walkers.
As you enter the pub you are confronted by a sign stating, "No Hawkers or Campbells".
Glencoe is MacDonald country and they have long memories.
Though nowadays, I think the sign is mainly for the tourists!

No, Pigale, the Devil is a spectator.
He has followed Le Tour for many years.
I know he is a German.
Dresses as the Devil with a large Pitchfork in his hand.
He is very much part of Le Tour!

Me,banned from a pub. No problem !
All I have seen of Scotland is:
Edinburgh, Gretna Green (!) the Trossachs,Loch Lomond, Moffat and a few I can't remember !
Spent hours looking for Greyfriars Bobby
not realizing we had walked past him a dozen times already

Doglet, the Leslies are from the Aberdeenshire area.
Very old clan, as you say.
Most of the old tartans were muted. The idea was to blend in with the heather and moors.
The more striking tartans evolved during the nineteenth century with Queen Victoria and Society holidaying in the Highlands. This is when the modern kilt, or filibeg, came into being.
The old kilt served as a garment, and a protection, on the moors. They cocooned themselves in the kilt at night, out on the moors, and went to sleep.

Well, I will admit that I've never heard of him! And yet I am a faithful Tour follower (except that i missed the past 2 years, due to illness) When did he start doing ?

If you have heard a British presenter call him 'di di', he could in fact be a Didier, or even a Andre often shortened to dede

Your BMC team did it Rusty, but just ! and Froome is still in Yellow as far as I know. Don't know which place the Tinkoff team took ? The results were not on the Net when I looked.

Hey, Rusty!
Sorry for the long silence......as you will have expected, I have been watching the Mens' Singles Final!
I have to admit to being disappointed that Roger Federer lost....but Djokovic did indeed deserve to win the title! The tennis was of a magnificent standard!
Roger played the better tennis initially , but it was Novak who took control when the match was on the line....he played like the champion he undoubtedly is.
Both players spoke very nicely about the other - it was a very gracious occasion!
I enjoyed it.
Martina Hengis and Leander Paes are on Centre Court next , playing Mixed Doubles.
Will you watch it or is Martina now 'beyond the pale' for you? I know you were disappointed to hear of her drugs ban.

How did your cycling go today?
Any explanation I should know to improve my knowledge and edge my 'education' of the sport along? I am being slow to grasp it but I am trying! It's difficult when my attention has been on the tennis all the time, though - as I'm sure you will appreciate!
I have no idea whether my family will be anywhere near Le Tour - they are in Brittany? - you know me and Geography!

I hope your friends enjoyed the Pine Cone?

"Blue" hair, Rusty! Was that a typo? I have dark brown (curly) hair!

I have only just spotted this thread.
Starting at the beginning, I was disappointed that it may be the beginning of the end, so to speak. Reading on, I realise that good things can come out of misunderstandings.
Obviously I haven't been able to read it all, but I read the start the mid
dle and the end.
What a fantastic thread for us all to get to know each other!
I hope to contribute, if you'll have me along.
BTW who are the Corries??

Pigale, his name is Dieter "Didi" Senft.
He has been doing this for twenty years, but I think he is giving up as he can't afford to do it anymore.
It is a trident, not a pitchfork!
He has also made the world's largest bike.
Lots of photos on Google. Type Didi the Devil?
Yes, BMC got there, just. Not enough to put Tejay in Yellow.
They fly down to the Pyrenees now.
Mountains ahead.
