Just out of interest, we did a search to see whether our surname had actually descended from a clan and found that it did. There was some talk (not proven) from my father-in-law that his grandfather had come down to England on a stagecoach to find work.

I remember Andy Stewart singing "Donald, where's your troosers?"
Didn't he sing that along with "A Scottish Soldier" at New Year? and wasn't Jimmy Logan involved in all that somewhere?!
I've just googled 'butt bra', Rusty - it's a bit cheeky.....

Coming in late on this subject - no connection

Under 'trousers' A. Bradford gives 'trews' .

Elle, I was very, very, suspicious when you mentioned the hawthorn tree. Extremely suspicious in fact.
You told us you are small with blue hair and Elle is of the Elvenkind. It all fits.
It is good, though, that you can "pass" as one of us.
I am not of your ilk, but have a friend with the second sight. She lives a few miles away, in the greenwood.

The girls are fine. I am meeting one tomorrow, but may well get the elbow.

Are your family near Le Tour?

Martina's ban of two years was for cocaine use, the article said. But I can't see Wimbledon banning anyone.
Though if they gave Djokovic a ban for shouting at ballgirls they would have my full support...so they would!
I am waiting on Le Tour starting.
Have sent my friends to the Pine Cone.

Many folk are "entitled" to the kilt.
But as Jazzgirl said, they are not going to turn you away even if you are a full-blooded Cherokee!
The singer lady Cher, is a Cherokee, as it happens.

There are hundreds of tartans, some very muted, others more vibrant.
I like Clan Gregor with it's reds and greens.
One very attractive tartan I saw when I was at a wedding in Norn Iron.
It was the old RUC tartan.
Go for one that appeals to you, would be my advice.

I don't know which tartan they would have given for husband's maternal side of the family as the surname was very very Welsh indeed!. I still have his tie which is mostly blue/black/green

Jazzgirl, Blue black green could well be Clan Campbell.
You could maybe check on line if you still have your husband's tie?
There are often variations in a Clan tartan.
"Dress" and "hunting" spring to mind.
