Hi, Rusty!
I shall just have to battle on (when technology permits me to do so) until my daughter can take a look .
I find my desk top generally easier to manage than I do my Hudl, though?
You remembered well about Odin......
Well done!
(I'll have a sticky bun, too, please!)
I hadn't realised that EJ has been producing chicks for fifteen seasons.....
Wow!
That reminds me of a memorial bench we have in one of our parks..........to a mother of thirteen children.........!
Did you do the crossword today? I thought it a good one?
One I couldn't do , though........
14d: Upstanding character, anti-beer, corrupted? (9)
I?E?R?A?E
And two I couldn't parse?
17d; diorama
20d: endless
The answers fit.... but I couldn't see why?

I don't think that I would describe your character as "upstanding" elle, - lying down seems more likely!

Hello, Elle!
There is something you can do to your computer but I can not remember how to do it.
You go back to a date when it was working perfectly.
Say, last week.
But I forget how to go about it.
The upstanding chacharacter, Elle, is the letter "i", with "anti-beer" giving "inebriate".
I'll have to go and find the clues to the other ones as I've forgotten, though I do remember being puzzled by "endless".
Back in a tick!

Actually, I don't see how it works - compiler error?

Where's the definition though, rusty?

Hello, Elle,
I'm back!
"Diorama".
The moon is "Io", inside play/"drama"
Io often crops up in puzzles.
The other one is puzzling me.
"Endless"
I think it is "misery" without the "y".
But I am not sure at all on that one.
I shall give best to setter!

Hello, Elle!
The computer thing I was telling you about is called "System Restore".
Type that into your computer and follow the instructions.
As I remember, it was quite straightforward.
But, you may be happier awaiting your daughter to fix whatever is it?

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, yes, "System Restore"........
Yes, that oftens works......and I do know how to do it....
I just hadn't thought about it in this instance, as this computer problem has been rearing its head for quite a while.....
But yes, thank you ...I shall give it a go....... going back a week might just lessen the problem, if not annihilate it!
Now I'm sorry I didn't include the clues...I was just being lazy, as I thought you would have your paper.
Re 17d: I don't understand the moon is "Io"?
I can see "drama".
I can vaguely see 20d, the way you have explained it....
Odd though - a clumsy clue , don't you think?
I'm being dim here but still don't get 14d... why is "i" an upstanding character?
Aren't all characters ( I'm assuming the setter means letters) regarded as upstanding?
And what is the definition here?
Sorry to be such a dimwit!

Hello, Chris!
I like the joke.......

Hello, Elle!
System Restore is easy, and if you have done it before, why not give it a go?
I did not have my paper to hand, that was all.
Now, apparently "Io" is a moon of Jupiter, out in space.
I tied my wee brain in knots with "endless"!
I can almost see what the setter is up to.
I think we can give the setter that one, Elle.
No harm in a bit of charity!
My take on "i" is it is a character of the alphabet, and is "upstanding" as in straight up and down.
What do you reckon?
I see it as the upstanding anti-beer person has been corrupted, and is now an "inebriate".
That is my take on it.
Any good?

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I see what you mean about the letter "i" being straight up an down...yes, maybe that is what it means ?
I'm still puzzling though over the definition........I had assumed that "corrupted" was the anagram indicator for "i" and "anti -beer"?
Unless the entire clue is this strange "& lit" thing that I can never grasp?
Do you think that is it?
Still, on the whole, a good puzzle!
Did I tell you I had to see the practice nurse this afternoon about my ears?
I am relieved to say that I am not becoming deaf after all..... I was beginning to wonder.......
My ears simply needed syringing!
