Hello, Elle!
A pity there are not more Aussie players, though.
I shall have another go at the "pounds"!
It is generally accepted (and in Chambers) that "lsd" is an abbreviation of "pounds, shillings, and pence",
Not, "pound, shilling, and penny", but "poundS".
The "l" stands for "librae" which is the plural of "libra".
So, to me, that is where the setter gets "pounds=L".
I have no problem with the clue/answer.
Dolores was lead singer with the Cranberries.
I liked her singing "Linger".
I still have my tickle.
We are awaiting snow.
It is crossing Ireland just now.
Are you due any?

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a lovely day here...bright blue sky and sunshine.
Very cold though!
I do not think we are forecast any snow, although there was a mention of "wintry" showers.... does that mean snow?
How about with you? Any sign of snow?
What are you up to, today?
I am going to make a coffee, and take a look at the puzzle before doing some chores......

Good morning, Elle!
Yes, had a covering of snow over night.
The sky to the West looks full of it!
Federer won his match earlier today.
Not sure what I am up to today.
May be out later on for a wee while.
I've finished the puzzle.
Not too hard!
9a, 8d, 12d, 18d, 20d, new words to me, but I got there!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, so you had your snow!
Is it necessary to wear your snow spikes?
I have been playing around with the Euro Player website...but I am now blocked from entering it - however I approach it - so I guess my extended warranty has finally run out!
I appear to be able to renew my subscription at £29-99 for 12 months?
But after all the aggro of last time, I think I shall decline.
It is a lot of money for something that may or may not be trusted to work.......
I haven't had time to do the 15 x15 , we have had a visitor.
But I did the QC earlier........
Now, I know you think this crossword is too easy....but there were two clues that I particularly liked, so here goes.......
1a: Huge double obstacle met by a work of Shaw's (5,7)
17d: Include wine, we hear, for particular purpose only (2,3)
I thought these were both good!
I shall take a look at the larger cryptic now.......
P.S. Well done, Roger! Whom did he beat?

Hello, Elle!
No ice grips needed so far!
Snowing intermittently just now.

I think you are wise not renewing your subscription to EuroPlayer.
Too much hassle!
I think Roger beat Bedene of Slovenia.
Now 17, could be "ad hoc".
No idea what it means, but it sounds like "Add Hock"?
1a, I looked up Bernard Shaw's books and got "Major Barbara"!
I have not read any of his stuff, so I would have struggled with that one!

Hi, Rusty!
It seems incredible that you have snow!
Just looking out of my window, I could be conned into thinking we were in the middle of Summer!
The sunshine is glorious!
Yes, both those answers are correct - I thought the parsing for both was excellent, especially the George Bernard Shaw clue!
17d: ad hoc = for particular purpose only (def)
"ad hoc" sounds like "add hock"
1a: Major Barbara = play by GBS
major - huge
bar bar - double obstacle
a
Yes, very satisfying, I thought!
(and just on my level!)
I am about half way through the 15 x15...it's going too easily...
I think I shall soon come unstuck!

Hello, Elle!
Snow has stopped, but more on the way.
My son says the roads are clear, and that's good.
The "Bar bar a" one, looks familiar?
I'm of a mind something similar has been in recently?
Good luck with your puzzle!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, for what it's worth, I have done all that I can of the crossword.......
I liked "attic", "empiricists", creationsim" and "sea change".
Those were my favourites!
But King Billy?!
I didn't know 18d - "tabaret" is a new word for me - but got it from the parsing and the crossers!
There are three interlocking ones that I cannot do......all in the south- east corner.
17d: ?A???M?H
24a: ??M??
20d: S???A?E
I am completely stuck here - I have no ideas.....
( I told you it was going too smoothly!)
I have spent far too long on this.....I shall give up and take out the dog for a walk!

Hello, Elle!
17d, is "harrumph"
Short, strenuous, is "har(d)", game is "RU" (rugby union),
Speed is "mph", miles per hour.
Harrumph is grunt.
24, is "remap", modern music is "rap", them is " 'em", which I did not care for. "Remap" is "once again plan."
20d, is "septate"
The country is "state" and "E" for Eastern, "p" for power.
Septate means partitioned, seemingly.
Enjoy your walk!

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you, yes, it was lovely out.........but getting increasingly colder.........
Brrh!
Have you yourself been out for a walk? or is the ground too slippery?
Have you had any more snow?
I do not know "harrumph" and certainly could not get if from parsing the clue!
I agree with you that " 'em " was unfair, as there was no indication of a word contraction, was there?
I've never heard of "septate"!
You did well to get all these- I think they were very hard!
I hope I do better at answering the "Egghead" questions shortly ........
