Hi, Rusty!
As usual, I enjoyed "The Voice"!
I have recorded "Casualty", which was on at the same time, so will watch that tomorrow.
I remember first learning about Alice Springs, from reading Nevil Shute's " A Town like Alice".
I also enjoyed the film with Virginia McKenna and Peter Finch.
But I have had to look this up......
Alice Springs is named after Alice Todd, the wife of the Superintendent of Telegraphs, Sir Charles Todd.
The town is nearly equidistant from Adelaide and Darwin, and straddles the usually dry Todd River on the northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges.
I am wondering here if the Todd River is also called after Superintendent Todd, or maybe Alice?
The surrounding region is known as Central Australia, consisting of several different deserts.
I have learned a lot today!
