The lascaux experience website only refers to the replicas.

Or they may have been right and I am wrong - often happens!
The French commentary made no mention of it.

Yes Chris, I had missed your post.

I wonder why the British commentators said what they said then?
Surely they must have done their homework on the subject.

I think a lot of people get confused about the Grotte being open
to the public, when in fact it is the replica. But I would tend to
believe the website, wouldn't you?

Hello, Elle!
It is an unusual word, isn't it.
I thought you may know it.
It is a fine day here.
Blue skies and fluffy white clouds.
I am watching le Tour.

Hello, Pigale!
I watched EuroSport.
We saw the exhibition centre and a large sort of outdoor sculpture of an aurochs, I think it was.
The commentators did not seem to know very much about it.
It is a lovely part of the world.
The peloton has just passed the cave-houses.
I saw these the other night on YouTube.
People lived in them until fairly recently, I think.
Nice weather in France!

Chris, update:

Another French website says:

'The original Grotte is now only open to scientific specialists and
some privileged people.........?
I presume 'official visitors' such as, say, H.M. the Queen or
the President of some country would not be refused entry.....

"Nice weather in France"
Just realised what I posted.
Did not mean to be cryptic!

Hi, Rusty!
I have "found" my missing print-out of the notorious 500 words...it was supposed to be kept in the back of my dictionary..... it must have fallen out!
Yes, "sphairistike" IS among those "missing" words!
We have rain clouds......no blue sky like you!
But - thankfully - it is cooler!!!!
Tennis has resumed!
Novak won his match , three straight sets.
There are no matches of particular interest to me showing right now, so I am popping out for a while.
I have to post a birthday card to one of my grandsons.
He will be seven on Thursday!
You sound as though you are enjoying Le Tour!
I shall be interested to hear any info on the Caves later.

Good evening, Elle!
Glad you found the word!
It has been a fine day here.
I did enjoy today's stage, but the racing was not up to much.
The scenery was superb.
Liked all the old chateaux etc and the enthusiastic crowds.
Very little info on the caves.
There is much more on YouTube.
Guided tours etc
I think there was a family living in a nearby cave until a few years ago.
