Hello, Elle!
Yes, unusual for me to do a crossword on Sundays.
But, that was the main reason I stopped getting a Sunday paper.
I did not rate the crosswords, plus the supplements etc that I not care for.
The weekday Times are more of a challenge (as they should be).
I think there is a different crossword editor for the Sunday Times.
Not Mr Rogan, I do not think.
Battersea?
Jazzgirl has parsed it perfectly, and I like Rossim's thinking!
Your birthday tea sounds fine!
I do not see any TV station covering the Oscars ceremony this evening?
I will have a look at Paddy Powers to see if they are taking wagers on it.

Apparently the Oscar ceremony is exclusively on Sky Cinema - not much use to you, I think, rusty!

Thank you, Chris!
No, I do not subscribe to the film channels.

If you have Sky, it might be worth trying - they occasionally allow free access to what are normally pay-for channels for one-off events like this.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I must admit to thinking along Rossim's lines - once I'd got "Battersea" as my answer, I inevitably tried to connect it with Barking (as in dogs) - plus there is also a place called Barking in Essex!
I would never have been able to parse it.
Now........ I have since been reading (online) about Salazar's administration of L-cartinine to several athletes.........
You are right...it does not look good!
Mo Farah's name is specifically mentioned......and there is a photo of Galen Rupp chatting to Salazar, above the article!
It doesn't give his name , but he is easily recognisable!
Rupp has already been in trouble with the drug authorities.
Oh dear...........more idols with feet of clay?
I have checked on Google - Chris is quite correct - the only coverage for the Awards ceremony seems to be on Sky Cinema.
On whom do you want to bet?
Enjoy the cycling and golf....catch up later.......
I'm going out now with the dog!
P.S. the rain has stopped and now the sun is shining!

Hello, Elle!
The Salazar report says that as soon as he discovered how effective it was, he was straight in touch with Lance Armstrong about it. 'Nuff said!
If Sir Mo had any sense he should get an untainted coach.
Mud is flying and it can stick!

I have hunted through my channels and can not find a Sky Cinema, wherever it is hiding!
I found a Sky Oscars channel though, showing "Sound of Music"!
I was going to have a wee dabble on Viola Davis for best actress, but she is not nominated in that category.
She is in Best Supporting Actress and her odds to win are a very off-putting 1-50.
Cycling is very good.
They are hammering over the cobbles now.
Sagan in second group with Tony Martin and a few big hitters!

Sky Cinema seems to have been renamed Sky Oscars for the day. Live coverage starts about 11.30, showing people arriving at the ceremony.

Thanks, Chris, I see what they have done now!

Hello, Elle!
A win in Belgium for Peter Sagan!
Poor Tony Martin crashed and landed on his face.
Very bloodied, but he rode on.
Now, if Rickie can manage to win the golf I shall be very pleased and may burst into a chorus of "Goodnoight Oirene!"
Weather brightening here.
I hear Storm Ewan has hit Ireland!

Hi, Rusty!
We are home again.
My goodness, it was very windy out! and decidedly chilly!
Have you been out ?
Yes, I agree with you - it would behove (what a lovely word!) Mo to keep well away from Salazar.
I cannot think where all this will end.........
Now tell me...who is Voila Davis?
I do not recognise the name? obviously, she is an actress - but in what sort of genre?
Ought I to know her?
Pause.......
I was in the middle of typing this to you.......when the phone rang!
An old friend, with whom I have been constantly in touch by email but with whom I hadn't spoken in person for quite a while, had rung me!
We have been talking for about forty minutes!
That was nice!
How is the cycling going?
Right, I'd better click on "Add post" and get this to you!
