Hello, Elle!
I'd say the hub cardboard box is around 18 inches by 10 inches by 2 inches?
Anyway, the postie rattled my door rather than attempt putting it through letter box.
I have since given my neighbour her hub.
She has just switched to BT from another supplier.
A pity your friendly vet has retired (phone Laura Muir!).
Changes happen, though.
I do not know anything about Medivet, but Jazzgirl obviously does.
I would pay strong heed to her words.
Worth investigating.
That is a benefit of a forum like ours.
Plenty experience and advice on it!

Elle, I felt I had to say something, as we love our pets as we do our family. If the staff remain the same, that is good, but those at a higher level in the "company" may set the rules and even "targets". I am afraid it is the same with funeral directors who are now being taken over by huge businesses whilst they keep the "old name" of the original firm. Talk to your dog-walking friends in the park etc. and I wish you all the best.

Hello, Elle,
I intended to suggest you talk to your fellow "doggie walkers" when you are up in the park most days, but Jazzgirl beat me to it!

This is a website for Medivet staff to leave reports. Some good, some bad. A lot of companies set "targets" but this should not happen at any veterinary practice. The animals are beings, not commodities.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the veterinary practice "takeover" is a potential problem brewing.....
Not least because our practice is by far the (acknowledged) best in the area - and the only one that offers 24/7 care
In fact, our practice does the weekend and night-time cover for the other local practices.
It has an outstanding reputation.
Many of the dog -owners whom I know go there, for these very facts!
And I know quite a bit about other vet practices that I consequently wouldn't "touch with a barge pole"!
Oh dear!
I guess the most important thing is that the excellent standard doesn't slip......fortunately the vet with whom we personally always deal is still there........
If the care remains the same......and is genuine (no false / unnecessary tests) .........and is always available twenty- fours hours, as it is now...then I shall have no quarrel with the regime.
I shall keep an eye on the fees, as JG recommends - but money is the least of my concerns.
I would in fact be willing to pay more if the status quo remains as it has always been
However, I shall sensibly "monitor" the situation!
Another strong coffee needed......... this is too traumatic!!!!!

JG, again, thank you!
I am "investigating".........
I think I shall talk to the previous owner.
He has owned, and worked in, the practice for 40 plus years.
He couldn't see this coming...but may well be happy to offer advice.

Good evening, Elle!
Good idea!
Have a chat with the retired vet.
He may offer some guidance.
Certainly worth exploring, anyway!
I have just watched a small clip from a Bruce Springsteen concert.
He invited this young lad on to the stage with him, got him a guitar and they sang and played a song together.
The young lad took a selfie of himself and the Boss, at the end.
Was very good!

Elle, your practice is excellent and well-estalished and I feel confident the staff would not agree to adopt any changes they consider unacceptable. You are sensible and will instinctively know if anything is not as it should be. Fingers crossed that all will be well.

Hi, Rusty!
I got carried away reading "Three Men in a Boat"!
I am making good progress up (or should that be down?) the river!
I had forgotten just how good a read it is!
I hope you are enjoying it?
And there is "Three Men on the Bummel " to look forward to reading afterwards.
Of course, you missed out on that.........
Are you going to order it again?
Btw, have you looked into DVD Players?
Are you still intending to buy one, in order to watch "La, La Land" with Miss O?

Hello, Elle!
No, my next book will be "Farthest North" by Fridtjof Nansen.
It is about his voyage in the "Fram" in 1893.
But it looks as if it will be more expensive than I usually pay.
No, I have not looked at DVD's.
I will ask Miss O to borrow one, as I never watch films.
I am not good at sitting quietly, you see.
An unmastered skill, I'm afraid.
But La La Land appeals to me.
Are you going to watch it?
