Hey, Rusty!
I am afraid that Fridtjof Nansen is someone whose name I do not know?
Obviously an explorer?
Where was he going?
No, I know that you do not like to sit through a film........but the advantage of having a DVD Player is that you do not need to do so!
You can get up and walk around (you can even yell out if you do not want to be quiet!)
You can stop the recording and go and make a drink.
When you have had enough, you can switch off.......and watch the rest another day!
For about £30, a DVD player is not a bad investment!
And you do particularly want to watch "La La Land"........
No, I have no plans to go to see it.
I do like some musicals but am not very genned up on this one?
I don't even know the plot?
I possibly might watch it when it come around on the television!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Have you got up yet?
It is colder here today - and damp!!
Not a very nice day!
I am coming to the end of "3 Men in a Tub"
I shall have to get "bummelling" after that!

Good afternoon, Elle!
Bit chilly up here!
My new fibre line has been activated.
I have been having an electronic clear out on my tablet and phone.
Trying out new browsers etc.
Lost a few of my "shortcuts" and setting them up again after a factory reset on my tablet.
Nansen was a polar explorer. A Norwegian.
His idea was to have the Fram icebound and have the Arctic Sea drift take it North to the Pole.
That is what the book is about.
£30 is a lot of money to me, Elle.
I won't buy a DVD machine for one film.
i shall patiently wait on the young ones ideas about it.
Any more on the vet's practice?

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, that was very efficient of BT to activate your line when they said they would do it!
Not something that often happens!
You sound as though you are now in a technological paradise, having fun with your new toy!
Whereas I, on the other hand, am somewhat "grumpy" today!
I feel "niggled" by just about everything I come across.
(I'd better apologise in advance, in case it's needed!)
I think it is due to an accumulation of frustration over the HMRC's seeming denseness, plus the worry over the vet situation.
No, I am no forrader on either at present!
I am biding my time till the end of the week to give the HMRC chance to respond to my last communication, then I shall follow your good advice and "officially complain"!
I hadn't meant that you should buy the DVD player just for "La La Land"........I thought it might prove useful to watch any film that you might fancy - maybe some "golden oldies"?
You wouldn't need to sit still then?

Hello, Elle.
Yes, BT were on the ball early.
I am reinstalling a lot of stuff after a factory reset.
Takes quite a while.
Have not had my dinner yet and it's almost tea-time!
I would start the complaint to HMRC sooner rather than later for your own peace of mind.
You may be worrying needlessly as regards the vet situation.
Give it a bit of time and speak to others who go there?
Elle, I have no patience for watching anything on TV.
So, I won't buy a DVD machine, I don't think.

Hi, Rusty!
I hope you have had your dinner by now, or else you will be very hungry!
What did you have ?
A very strange thing happened this morning!
John sent me screen shots of the crosswords as usual....but they skipped a day!
Instead of QC 771, I received 772..... and the same with the 15x15, I have
No. 26,655, whereas I should surely have No. 26,654?
Are the crosswords just out of sync. online - or are they like that in your newspaper, too?
I am surprised that no-one has mentioned the discrepancy?
I have done the QC - a reasonable one - and am halfway through the 15 x15 as I have come to it late.
There was a good question on Eggheads today........who wrote "10 Rillington Place"?
I like the Art and Books section!

Hello, Elle!
I had baked beans, corn beef, and tatties for tea, and it was tasty!
Your puzzle is a mystery!
My paper has 26,654.
I went online and Times online has 26,654.
Same puzzle. I have just finished it.
I read 10,Rillington Place.
It was very good.
Ludovic Kennedy, I suspect?
No, you have me lost again?
What Art and Books section?

Hey, Rusty!
That is most strange........ I didn't raise the topic with John , because I assumed this had happened nationwide!
Now just to check.......I rather liked 13d in the 15 x15, supposedly puzzle no 26,655
13d in MY puzzle is: Close to Cathedral , a supporter drawing cross (11)
The answer is "labradoodle"
Did you have this in your crossword?
( I am wondering what I can expect tomorrow?!)
Yes, Ludovic Kennedy is the author of "10 Rillington Place"
Eggheads have nine ( I think) topic sections, from which multiple choice questions are asked of the contestants.
These are: Arts and Books; Sport; Politics; History; Geography; Film and TV; Science; Food and Drink; and Music.
My favourite subjects from that mix are Arts and Books, and Science.
i enjoy (attempting ) answering the questions!

Hello, Elle,
13d in today's puzzle is,
"Dismiss clergyman, losing one church"(4,7)
Answer, "York Min(I)ster".
A york is a bowl of some sort in cricket, hence dismiss the batsman.
Strange goings on?
Wonder where John got his puzzle from?
Both 11 letters, too?
When you mentioned Arts and Books, I wondered if you had been on AnswerBank.
They have a similar section.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it's very odd?
I have just emailed John to see if he's noticed.
He might not have done so, as he does the Sudoku, not the crosswords.
He just very kindly sends the crossword puzzles to me!
( I think his wife does the Times 2, but I don't know if that was affected, as I don't do that one)
I doubt he'll read the email till tomorrow though.
We shall have to wait with baited breath to discover the mystery................!
Speaking of tomorrow....I am meeting my daughter for lunch...it is her birthday today so tomorrow I am treating her to lunch to celebrate!
That will be nice!
