Hi, Rusty!
It is still foggy here!
I had intended going out again with the dog - you know how I like to walk! - but can see no advantage to any of us to be out in this unhealthy atmosphere.
Goodness knows what filthy air we should be breathing in!
We shall sit indoors, read books , play music and drink coffee!
A better alternative?
(And maybe fiddle with my Hudl!)
Are you stocking up for visitors over the New Year period?
First footers?
My cousin used to go out and "first foot"!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, you are best out of the fog!
Unhealthy stuff.
New Year up here, nowadays, is a pale imitation of the ones that were part of my youth.
I have no plans for it.
I always went first footing when I was young.
Used to be great craic after "the bells".
I am sure I will get a first foot or two.
Tradition has it that the first over your doorstep is preferably a dark haired handsome man, with a lump of coal in his hand!
How are you and the Hudl getting on?

Hi, Rusty!
I thought the fog was lifting a little earlier........but it is very thick again now!
A good job we stayed put!
We often had first footers come to our door when I lived up north.
But I don't think I know of any such instance down here.......maybe Southerners never do that?
I shall ask around! Maybe take a survey in the park?
I am wondering how you ranked as "dark" when going first -footing yourself?
I would have thought that having red hair would rule you out?
(I always understood that a first footer had to have black hair?)
Or maybe "dark" red would qualify?!
It sounds as though it was good fun anyway!
Your granddaughters and their friends visited you last year, didn't they?
The Hudl is charging...it and I will commune together later.....

Hello, Elle!
There was just a hint of red to my curls.
I did not qualify as a dark/black haired first foot.
But I had other qualities!
I would sing at the drop of a hat...and dance!
We certainly first footed up here, not sure about the South.
I hope to see some of the young ones this year, again.
Miss O tells me it is very cold in Paris.

Hi, Rusty!
Umm, an all singing, all dancing, red- headed first footer.......!
And I'll bet you had a great time!
I have just been watching a favourite of yours on the TV!
I recorded "Miracle on 34th Street" with, of course, Maureen O'Hara.
I have seen it before, but always enjoy it!
It is a lovely film!
We are not expecting any celebrations on New Year's Eve - dismally flat here in the South - but will make up for it on New Year's Day when all the family come to help celebrate both the beginning of a New Year and my husband's birthday.
It should be good fun!
I hope Miss O and her boyfriend are having a good time?

Hello, Elle!
Must be a great film if "herself" is in it!
I think I brought the New Year in one time in Harpenden, I think it was..
It was quite quiet compared to up here.
No news from Paris except that it is cold there.
Yes, you will look forward to New Year's Day and the birthday celebrations (remember to include Mr Jingles!)
I have good tidings on another front.
My son was here earlier and repaired my Dimplex fire.
He sent off for a LED driver and it came today and he fitted it, and my fire is back to normal.
I am pleased!
