Hello, Elle!
I had a look at 18d.
You need a slang word for "safe" to give the first word of the play.
I already have a Chromebook. It is very good.
A "social" user is someone like me who browses the net etc.
I use it for nothing else except storing my photos on Google Photos in the Cloud.
I do not "do stuff" like Word etc.
The young ones are moving away from laptops.
Their phones are all they need.
Well done on the printer.
Currys have pages of laptops etc, even the ones that are out of stock.
I find that irksome.

Hi, Rusty!
Thanks to your hint I have got the answer now....
I didn't know that "peter" was a slang word for a "safe" - Anne B has just told me!
So the answer is "Peter Pan" = play.
Just twigged the rest......
pa - pop
n- first of neighbourhood
Oh dear, I should have seen that a lot earlier! Thanks again.
Did you like 20 across?
Shades of the past?
Now, I use "Word" a lot!
I find it very useful for writing letters etc.
I'm afraid that these days I email where possible, but sometimes the "written word" (even if typed!) is necessary.
I fully agree with you about the pages of goods displayed that turn out to be out of stock when you start to order!
I was getting very frustrated when looking for a printer!

Hello, Elle,
Yes, I really like 20a!
"Peter" can also be a prison cell, as well as a safe.
No idea why, mind!
Anne B rules, OK!
Where would we be without her!
Yes, there are many applications for computers, like Word etc.
But, I only browse and buy stuff online, so a Chromebook is all I need.
Just watched Vroum Vroum Mag winning in Ireland!
Ruby Walsh was aboard, and his little sister, Katie, was riding the horse that came second!
6d and 17d are new words to me, and 2d, and I have heard of 22d but did not know what it meant.
I liked the Cockney clue, a good one!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, our knowledge of words and their meanings is certainly improved and extended by the doing of these crosswords!
Whether I shall remember "ecdysiast" by tomorrow, though, is another matter!
Now.......younger daughter has phoned to tell me they are in Bromley, and M & S has a 50% Sale on.....
We are going to Bromley tomorrow to collect our new printer from Argos....
I might just be tempted to pop in to M & S.......... no harm in .....er.......just taking a look..... is there?
Right, I am going now to wash my hair!

Hello, Elle!
No harm visiting M&S at all!
Be better than looking at printers anyway!
Leave Mr Jingles in charge at home!
I agree about ecdywhatsit!
Wonder where the setter found that word!

Hi, Rusty!
Mr Jingles is getting too big for his boots!
He has been seen upstairs.......
I am wondering if he is not a twin but maybe a triplet? or a quintuplet?
Or...the beginning of a serious problem?
I have just heard that Bradley Wiggins has announced his retirement from cycling...........voluntarily or was he pushed?
There is so much going on in the Cycling world ........
Have you heard any more about the ongoing investigation?

Hello, Elle.
Mr Jingles will be exploring.
Nothing to worry about.
I think Wiggo was meant to retire in Olympic year, anyway.
But, he is leaving under a bit of a cloud.
Pity.
Not heard much more about the investigations.
Am hearing it may be Dame Trotty in the New Year's Honours List.
She said she hopes Jason is made a Sir, then she would be Lady Laura!
The both deserve something, I think.
And young Mr Murray!

Hey, Rusty!
I read somewhere that Andy thinks he is too young to be knighted?
If age is a factor...that would rule out Laura as she is younger than Andy, isn't she?
To be honest, I have never taken much notice of people's ages... so couldn't really comment on this.
Those friends of mine who live near you, are Sir and Lady "X".
He was knighted for contributions to science (or somesuch)
I am reading a very interesting book about corvids.
The term includes ravens, rooks and varieties of crows.
The birds were adopted as individuals by a family when the birds fell upon hard times.
The bird may have been a deserted fledgeling for instance.. ...or was found injured.....
It is fascinating how the bird's character comes to light when living in a family environment.
We once had a street pigeon living with us, whilst it recuperated from an accident!

Hello, Elle!
If Andy knocks back a knighthood he may not get asked again.
Trotty deserves something for being GB's greatest female Olympian.
And Jason is up there, too.
Me and the rest of the cycling world will have to stop calling her "Trotty" if she becomes a Dame!
Is this book about a real crow?
They are not favourites of mine.

Hi, Rusty!
Sorry, I perhaps put that badly....
I don't think that Andy meant that he would refuse an honour......just that he didn't expect to be offered a knighthood at his age!
Leastways, that is how I interpreted the article. I might have it wrong?
I think Andy would be very pleased and delighted to be offered a knighthood.
Look how proud he looked when carrying the Union Jack at the Olympics!
I remember remarking on his smiling!
The book is about "real" birds , yes.
It began with the writer keeping doves.
Then she graduated to having a rook, a magpie.....I am only half way through. the book........who lived en famille.
I had never liked rooks/ crows either, but this has opened my eyes a lot to their individual characters.
I am being educated!
