I was almost relieved that Enigmatist turned up yesterday, as it meant that I was unlikely to find the Prize as hard. And so it proved.
A very enjoyable stroll courtesy of Tramp.
I think I was lucky in that I immediately saw 1a/15d, which was my FOI and wasn’t subsequently surpassed as COD on account of its brilliance, despite competition from eg 12).
LOI 19 as I was fixated on the wrong sort of leg.
Didn’t know 16 (I bet geeker did), but perfectly gettable from the parsing fodder.
Thanks to Tramp for the fun.

Thanks to Tramp: indeed enjoyable and I was not up for a Friday evening Enigmatist pummelling.

LOI also 19. FOI 3, which was one of a handful of "low hanging fruit" toehold clues.

On the gentle side, well below median solving time, but some trickily disguised definitions and charade components that provided ample challenge and amusement.

Can't argue with 1,15 as COD. Also liked 5d, 12, 9, 23, 5d and 26.

Took me a while to get 16, which I expected to be easier. I've often seen the name on library shelves, but have never read any of *** works [surely no spoiler, as the definition is obvious].

On 16 I wasted time trying to use the wrong "live".

I went through this fairly quickly but then came stuck with 9a, which I've been staring at for the better part of 30 mins. I have all the crossers but Chambers shows there are no words that fit that letter pattern.

Brendan, 9 is a word I consider to be slang and US usage. It might not be in Chambers (which I don't own or use).

Music hint: there was a related '70s hit by the O'Jays

Thanks Geeker,

That's what I ended up putting in but was hesitant because, to my understanding, the definition seems very loose - unless it's "rubbish" as a verb, but even then?

Can you confirm the parsing, I have it as "out of sight" 4 + "street" 2 then "a bin at the front" is 1,1.

... or is it "rubbish" is the 4? In which case the definition would be "rubbish out of sight" which makes a bit more sense.

Brendan, I think the defn. is "Rubbish out of sight" (which seems OK by my loose standards), but it does parse 4 ("behind"), 2, 1, 1.

One of the disguised definitions I mentioned above.
