I can't quite parse 10 (I'm thinking 2,3,4 ...the 2 and the 4 make sense but can't make the 3 letters in the middle work!)

Also can't parse 14. I've got a word that fits that could be described as a "disorder" but I've got two letters i can't account for and haven't used the "eye" part of the clue!

For the record I've heard of 18a!!
And getting the theme gave me 7,12 !

Hi ish
10 and 14 have been explained as much as possible without spoilers in earlier posts.

Wow, I feel suitably embarrassed not to recognize 7,12, now that I actually looked. I have not seen the very popular movie though, but I certainly have seen many articles about it.

I too was stuck on 14d, 17a and 20a - I get 20a now ( I used to have a shirt like that! ) Thanks for the steer on that.
For 17a I had an abbreviation of lack oil sunflower seeds which seems to be a Thing and could be seen as a sort of head.
And I was about to ask for a hint about the big star but the penny has just dropped. Thanks all!

I'd never heard of 7,12. Got the first name from crossers, had to guess a surname and google. But I'm almost totally oblivious to popular culture.

And now I've just received an email urging me to buy a digital copy of the movie. 🤷‍♀️

Well only just returned to the forum after working hard on trying to get some answers. I had to check a few of my guesses on Dan Word and they were wrong, so I cheated (I hate doing that, but I'd no time today as I have to cook dinner, currently in oven). I got 24ac (on my own) which led me to 16ac and the theme, which in turn helped with some answers. I had to google 18ac and despite having all the crossers I cheated on 7/12. I've never heard of this actor and despite googling the name I'm none the wiser.

There are some I can't fully parse - no doubt covered earlier in the thread. They are 9ac (I thought this was going to be Mint). (I've just spotted the significance of detailed), 10ac, 13ac (I'v got two letters to account for), 2d - I've got the regularly deleted emails, but no idea where the Police chief fits in (It has just occured to me that this may be a reference to a pop star?). Finally, I have 14d, but can't parse it, possibly because I've no idea what the Big Star is either way up.

Like the rest of you I was much amused when the penny dropped with 8ac

So, LOI 7/12, COD 21ac

It took me ages to get on Brockwell's wavelength. I guess he is not my favourite setter. Sorry

roof, the Big Star in 14 is the surname of an American actor you've almost certainly heard of.
