There are two possibilities for the wordplay in 4d and the wrong word very nearly fits the def - worth checking, perhaps?

I’m puzzled. The clue requires a misprint in the definition. How can that work to give the alternative answer?

The correction gives a synonym for either of the alternative letters anagrams.
