Your suggestion was my first thought, actonhighstreet, and I still think there’s something in it!

Still only half finished but I put it down for a couple of hours. I should reiterate I have no problem with instructions or a challenge. I didn't understand these instructions at first until Jono and Samuipete put me on the right track. But, and this is a point of discussion not a criticism of Brummie because I am enjoying this, it seems a bit pointless having a whole clue when, if you pick the definition, you can just think of the answer without even needing to solve the clue. If that makes sense.

I have an answer for 26d, but can’t see the antonym.

I agree with prospero and rogissimo – i thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle; it's cleverly crafted with no solutions involving unfamiliar words or esoteric GK (possibly an oxymoron?) , and, as has been pointed out, many solutions have no obvious antonyms. Ingenious and a fun challenge, thank you, Brummie.

ianwil -is your answer temperature-related? The antonym is also.

Ingenious puzzle but pass.
These elaborate special instruction puzzles take more time than I have to spend.

geeker - I’m always impressed by your solving time, and my experience of this one is that it slightly less than doubled my norm, so I honestly don’t think it would take you too long!

Can't parse 13d.
Can't get 13a.
Any hints welcome.

Minno
Both are antonyms, if that helps.
The original 13d parses as a London University (3) around two ‘balls’
13a parses originally as (2,3,2)

Agree also with Rogissimo and others. Something a bit different and challenging in a different way is fun. Well done to the compilers. We finished in reasonable time and enjoyed it.
