Got 3d now- just 9a and 2d left.

Thanks Wulgus, but I messed up my parse - it should of been 3 letter "mushroom" inside 3 letter "operation" not 2 as I said in my original post. Glad it didn't hold you up;-)

Okay so 9a not an antonym - all done

Hi Grum,

9a - 4 letter "legs" (as in an athletics race, for example) + single letter "quarter (think compass) - definitition is "mistake"

2d - 2 letter "surgery" (abbr.) + anagram/gets transferred - definition is "facing"

2d- facing is definition. An abbreviated synonym of surgery + postie gives you an anagram of the answer. Transferred is anagram indicator

I enjoyed this as something a bit different, though challenging. So have appreciated 2 of the 3 specials - really didn't like the obscure composers for what should have been my Christmas treat.
