Brendan - I’m very late back to the party (which really warmed up while I was away), but just to say that your parsing of 1d is the same as mine. Took me a while to work it out (after thinking too long about possible subtractions), but I’m sure it’s right and I really like it!

I'm late to this, but have to say I agree with the other posters who didn't like it. I can accept these tricky special instructions type puzzles at Christmas time and suchlike. But I yearn for a normal puzzle. Hopefully next Saturday. Happy new year though one and all.

Thanks Rog, thast's good to know - I also think it's the only clue where the wordplay works for both the original answer and its antonym.

Well I'm done after making a dent last night, and then polishing it off with help from the hints etc on here.

Another fan here - really enjoyed this! I can't remember who gave the 'anatomical' hint for 12a but thank you - I'd been stuck on that corner for ages. It made me smile.

As newcomer to this forum, can you tell me what LOI, FOI, and COD stand for?
