Fair play to those who've finished. I'm finding this totally impenetrable. Have 4 answers after an hour, two of which I'm not sure about. Not enjoying these clues at all.

Thanks again drxx. I actually had those two, but thought there was something suspicious about third from last word in 7. As another example, I’ve solved 19, I think, as long as I exclude a four word chain in the middle of it. It feels there’s something going on - and nothing seems to fit 12!

I think you need most of that string because it reduces one clue word to a single letter (the one that begins the answer) but there is a single superfluous word.

That was the hardest first puzzle of the year that I can remember. We usually get eased in so that the all-corrects after one puzzle exceed 400. Not this time!

12 - First two words are def (misprint in the second). Lose the numeral from ''how to pull teeth'' (''clothes'' on the outside).

I thought I had the correct "product" from 13a, but it turns out that two of those letters actually come from 32,1.
I can't see how they work in the parsing for 13a.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's an error in the puzzle (that's the 'little echo' I mentioned earlier on).

...and it looks like they've come to the same conclusion over on the AB thread.
