Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any special instructions or additional information, common in Listeners, should also be included.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help towards the theme may also be sought here. The help given should be fairly gentle in nature - just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction (and certainly not anything to spoil the puzzle for others). Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

In general...
There are many regulars on the Listener threads, but newcomers are always welcome - and should be made to feel so.
Unsolicited help, with clues or the theme, will be removed.
The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

I can't concentrate long enough to read a clue in its entirety. One for the purists I fear. I shall check reactions tomorrow before giving it a fair chance.

A curious puzzle to start the year. Not a pushover, but it all falls neatly into place.

A bit disappointing to see the Listener remains postal entry only. I'd thought the new regime might've given a chance for some modernisation.

That may come later. Hopefully. Probably took a fair amount of time to do the handover to whoever it is that’s the new checker.

All finished, except for finding the second character in the grid. A strange puzzle IMO - I felt some of the clues were overly convoluted. The overall theme has been used relatively recently in a Listener.

Both characters found without any trouble but tying-up all of the elements was a real slog (and going back and forth looking for the clues made it even tougher. I liked it, though (at least I think I did).
