Thanks hw7. This puzzle capture all three of the feelings that I can experience when attempting the solve. I loved solving the clues and filling the grid, I hated spending hours reading about things I simply do not understand and, finally, the the euphoria of the PDM. Additionally, the final grid is a masterpiece of construction and to be admired even though I abhorred it until the PDM(s) arrived.

Hello out there. I need a nudge for the endgame please. I have the seven letters and the puzzle but the extra letter and 'picture' eludes me. Is it an extra one of the seven or a letter which can stand for king and queen, and where might it go, Would be a shame not to enjoy the final PDM. Thanks

Mullingar

Nudge 1 - I found the royal link misleading and superfluous to the PDM
Nudge 2 - See hw7 @ post 48
Nudge 3 - Google the fist two words from D study the grid
Nudge 4 - as I stated earlier, picture is unhelpful, a different word would
have reduced the grief it gave me by @ least 90%
Nudge 5 - google/wiki A & B and apply the D instruction

That is what led to my PDM - but it took a long time coming

Thanks Gitto. Very helpful. I have drawn the map which cleverly utilises only D 'factors' . I am definitely out of my depth looking at the works of A and B. Not 100% convinced i have sorted it all as the changed letter has not leapt out at mep

Glad you got there mullingar, especially as hint 5 should have been google/wiki A & 15a!! I was trying to avoid using the more helpful word that you have used.

I think I am close to the solution here but I have two questions. Firstly the changed letter will presumably be in the wrong colour, because the change is made subsequent to the colouring, correct? Secondly, does it matter what colours we choose? I am going to use a logical one for the middle (in terms of number of cells) one, can any colour be used for the others?

I changed the colour and used the colours from wiki but presume any will be ok
