Thanks Simond9x but sadly, following your suggestion, I can’t find anything in Chambers that fits! I hope I correctly interpreted your thoughts

Think I may be missing something in the last stage. I think I have identified the cell to change. But I have two (consecutive letter) options as to what to change it to.

I can change it to be consistent with the others, but then I don't see why it's 'fit for a king or queen'. Or I can change it to a different letter, which would produce something 'fit for a king or queen', but then it's not what it's supposed to be?

Am I missing something more elegant?

S-harry - I got to exactly the same place as you - so either I have missed something too, or the end-of-the-end-game is a bit unsatisfactory. I assume you have to use the letter that gives you something fit for royalty.

If we enter the letter required by the C corrections, doesn't that connect us to the relevant letter directly above it?

Overall I really enjoyed this one! The method for drawing the picture is brilliant and the theming is very fun. The only bit that I didn't see was the Royal reference in the title and the king/queen in the instructions. If it is what drxx said above I think that's a bit strange given the diagonal orientation others mentioned. But I have no better explanation.

Almost expelling Australian to accommodate tiny Scottish stranger. (5)
I have N??ER which probably accounts for the first three words of the clue.
