Good puzzle I thought despite not liking the definitions of a couple (22a + 16)

Thanks Jono, all done now. I seem to have found this one much more difficult than everyone.

I didn't watch any of the series, so had only vague idea of the theme - I should have followed the pointer at 27d.

I had a brief exchange of messages with Hamish in another forum. This puzzle was intended to coincide with the final of the theme show originally scheduled for today. However, the bbc moved the date due to football! Hence 27d had to be changed to refer to “next” Saturday which wasn’t the original intent.

I guessed that might be the case jono!

"16d the first word is the definition" But the tenses are different aren't they!?

And despite hints,16d still eludes me. Can't make it work. Is the set of bones "knuckles"?
