In 12a ‘refusing’ is one of the ‘nibbled’ words. I agree that the dog is perhaps unfairly obscure though!

Re the dog, it is a bbc production. Go to the CBeebies homepage and it’s one of the top listings! :-)

jono - thanks: my Google-to-confirm didn’t go that far! I initially thought there might be a kid’s TV dog called Billy (and perhaps there is/was), but then I got 5d and it could only be one thing after that.

i assume i've got 19a right, but google isn't helping. i've taken first letters
lots i didn't like, but i did like 14a and 4d.

I think your middle letter in 19 is wrong. Another cartoon character.

well i did - googling the appropriate kipling helped. where does the middle letter come from?
