Well, this is fun!

I had a similar experience to most with this. Challenging but a relatively quick finish. Same new word for me (I said it over and over to myself in an attempt to learn it and increase my vocabulary but on writing this I realise I’ve already forgotten it - doesn’t exactly fall off the tongue!).

I also was surprised by 8 across but realised after checking the answer in Chambers that one of its definitions means ‘to spread over (a place)’. I’m more like to remember that but doubt I will use it beyond crosswords!

My FOI 17,25 and LOI inexplicably the relatively easy 20. My COD was 6 for the clever word play despite needing Google to confirm the answer… still won’t remember it though!

I’m not seeing 8a as a dd, but rather wordplay split 1,7

Hm, raced through this but can't get the last one (which, strangely, was geeker's FOI). It's 2d. Maybe I've got one of 8 or 10 wrong but I don't think so. A nudge would be appreciated please to give me my "Doh!" moment.

Thanks both. More an "erk!" moment than a "doh!" moment. I did have 8a wrong (I had a hunting activity more related to pigs and boars which I thought fitted the wordplay). I tackle the clues in order so it was wrong before I reached 2d. Oh, what the heck? Doh!

Funny that rogissimo and I, first 2 posters on the thread, both found 2 COD. ;-)
